A death-row inmate will be executed Thursday for the murders of the daughter of his ex-girlfriend and her son in their Tulsa home.
Julius Ricardo Young, 60, was convicted of the 1993 beating deaths of Joyland Morgan and her 6-year-old son, Kewan. Their bodies were discovered in separate rooms of their apartment on Oct. 1, 1993.
Evidence indicated that Young broke into their home and beat the woman and child with a blunt instrument. The murder weapon was never found.
Prosecutors said Young was upset that Morgan's mother had recently broken off their relationship.
Young's execution will be the first of 2010 in Oklahoma. The state has executed 171 men and three women between 1915 and 2009, including three people last year, at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester.
Joyslon Roland, Joyland Morgan's mother, said the execution will bring closure.
"Once this is over, I will never bring this up anymore," she said. "It will be a closed book in my life."
She said she supports the state's carrying out the execution, saying it ensures that Young will never be released from prison. "That was my only daughter and her only son," she said.
Meanwhile, Julius Young's mother, Alene Young, said she believes her son is innocent and that his criminal trial wasn't fair.
She said her son is an ordained minister who once pastored a church.
"I'm very sad," said Alene Young, wiping tears from her eyes. "I had three sons, and he (Julius) is the last one alive."
What’s with the hair?
Julius, say hello to the devil.
Electrodes?
Maybe he’s Coolio’s dad.

I know of one Oklahoma missed! He committed a double murder near here about thirty one years ago, and was sentenced to death. They then completely forgot about him till they noticed his execution day had passed by several weeks or months! So they resentenced him to life in prison.
Hmmm.... they missed it, huh? Kinda weird...
Yeah, I wondered that too... :-)

Ms. Young what happened to your first two sons?
To bad he can’t ride the Lighting Bolt Express to Hell, and why did it take this long?.
LOL...
That hair do after the chair?
Just look hard enough and you can find good news every day!
This scum lived at taxpayer expense, enjoying three-square meals a day, color TV in his cell (and probably homosexual companionship of a cell-mate) for almost 20 years after his victims perished. For these kinds of crimes we need a special expedited trial and appeal process which guarantees a fair trial and appeals but has the a defendant dangling from a rope no more than three months after the deed.
Sorry,
I don’t see a change coming. The scum that defends this type of scum continues to feed at the taxpayer’s trough for 20 yrs. Since this type of scum also inhabits the judiciary and legislative branches, do you really expect change.
Just remember, sometimes in the old West, they quickly lynched the right person.
He should have been room temperature about 20 yrs ago.
