“This whole pissing match looks real foolish in context of the tragedy that is folding in front of us.”
Yes it does and I have a co-worker from Haiti in my office who is utterly sick with worry about members of his family who he has not been able to contact. He knows he has lost friends. The best things we can do is pray for the people of Haiti, those who are on the rescue teams and provide whatever aid/resources we can to help.
No, DB is giving credence to a punk mouth Wh press secretary whos only goal is to bad mouth Christians.....When gibbs skewers Rev Wright...let me know.
You can hear what Pat Robertson said here:
What, specifically, should I “come out against” in what he said? When he mentioned the ministry of Operation Blessing (which he founded) in Haiti? When he encouraged people to pray for Haiti? When he mentioned that God may use this to draw people to Himself?
Rush clarified his comments today by saying that if you donate, donate directly and not through some schlub Obama’s telling you to donate through because by the time those egg heads in Washington get through stripping down your sizable donation, you’ve effectively donated 30 cents to the relief efforts in Haiti. Rush said avoid the federal bureaucracy and donate through a church or other private organization.
“Is that any different from Pat Robertsons comments?”
No.
Equally reprehensible.
Then how was it stupid?
Presumptious? Yes. A great historical stretch? Yes.
But stupid? As you observe, the Bible, in both the Tanak and New Testament, is filled with stories of punishment by God for falling away from God, and promises of same.
You are absolutely right! Gibbs is a certified "stupid idiot".
No problem with that. But I think Rush could have made that very point without making it about Obama.
Is what he said wrong? The infrastructure and buildings have been in terrible condition. This provides an opportunity to employ Haitians to rebuild with better quality.
This is a disaster, as Pat Robertson has said. Do you agree that some good may result from this terrible event?
“only goal is to bad mouth Christians”
Well, if this is “Christians”, they f***ing deserve it!
I don’t believe it is Christian, however. Not at all Christian.
If Satan was influencing anything, it was Robertson’s mind at that moment.
OK, maybe not stupid, but it’s certainly presumptuous.
Hey Gibbs, are these comments also utterly stupid?
“Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!” If we shall suppose that American Slavery is one of those offences which, in the providence of God, must needs come, but which, having continued through His appointed time, He now wills to remove, and that He gives to both North and South, this terrible war, as the woe due to those by whom the offence came, shall we discern therein any departure from those divine attributes which the believers in a Living God always ascribe to Him? Fondly do we hope—fervently do we pray—that this mighty scourge of war may speedily pass away. Yet, if God wills that it continue, until all the wealth piled by the bond-man’s two hundred and fifty years of unrequited toil shall be sunk, and until every drop of blood drawn with the lash, shall be paid by another drawn with the sword, as was said three thousand years ago, so still it must be said “the judgments of the Lord, are true and righteous altogether.”
Please watch the video of Pat Robertson’s discussion of Haiti before continuing your slander against him:
His ministry has been active in Haiti for a long time....
Blessings to you.
It was ghastly. The fact that infrastructure may be replaced with better at the cost of thousands of lives is like saying the loss of an arm solves the hangnail problem.
Robertson is a Bible thumper.....you know, brimstone and ash......apparently that is not PC anymore. gibbs can take his PC bullcrap and stuff it in his kings undershorts.
“slander”
I’ll stand by my comments as containing no false charges, thank you very much.
I suspect they only dragged Robertson out to talk about Haiti, a subject on which he has no knowledge, because they believed he would say something stupid. And they were right.
A study of the book of Job would put that argument into proper perspective.
