Campaigns going strong as Kennedy seat race heads into final days (Did he really say that?)
The Boston Globe ^ | 01/13/2010 | Matt Viser, Globe Staff

From the article: He also claimed that he was unfamiliar with the “Tea Party movement,” when asked by a reporter. When told that different people labeled him a conservative, moderate and a liberal Republican, he responded “I’m a Scott Brown Republican.”

I get that, except you have to admit that you brought it on yourself, this is 2010, your tenth year at FR and you thought that Ronald Reagan was pro abortion, you ignored the previous posts on this very thread, and then you still stayed on the pro abortion angle, do you think that all your nonsense passed as intelligent discussion? Your reaction was to double down and start going after Reagan for everything under the sun.

I don’t have a Reagan war. I have an idolatry war.

BS, the only Reagan question on this thread was whether he was pro abortion or not, so you are fibbing to claim that it was seeing idolatry that made you jump in on the proabortion side. In fact, you now admit that you were wrong about Reagan and abortion.

Moral relativism is the view that ethical and moral standards, and positions of right or wrong are subject to a person's individual choice. Leading to disagreements over the right course of action, even when the same outcome of consequences seem likely to occur.

Hence, my use of term moral relativism wasn't directly tied to the abortion issue. Although its a factor in this equation. If you read what I posted you'll see my concern had to do with the candidate Scott Brown and you ignoring the fact that his liberal politics are really no different than Coakley’s.

The fact is that he signed into law a bill that greatly increased the number of abortions. That is advancing the abortion cause, whatever the reason. Since I know that many people are still cornswaggled by the "health" provision, I am now willing to let that pass.

The idolatry argument rises naturally from the phenomenon of idolization of Reagan, so it is not something I pulled out of thin air. It is something I have been aware of for quite a while, and it seemed apropos on this thread.

Battery winding down now, so I will say good night.

You deserve what people called you and I hope that you never try and lie about Reagan having been pro abortion again.

His politics are substantially different from Coakley’s. He is not a perfect candidate in our eyes, in terms of ideology, but if he were, he wouldn’t be electable. He may be making some compromises with his own beliefs. So be it. I wish him Godspeed. Good night, Reagan Man.

He furthered the abortion cause and was responsible for the deaths of many unborn babies. I don’t like corresponding with people who call me a liar, so I will not be responding to any more of your posts. Wear out your little l, i, a, and r keys to your heart’s content.

BTW, you are so dead wrong about Reagan and the abortion issue its pathetic. I've been fighting you Reagan revisionists since I joined FR and not one of you have been able to supply any evidence to back up your inflammatory accusation that Reagan was ever a proponent of abortion. Just the opposite is true. The Therapeutic Abortion Act proved Reagan's inexperience in his new job as Governor and not that he ever supported abortion on demand personally or as a matter of public policy. Reagan made a mistake, period. Reagan was far from perfect, but the continued attempts to take those imperfections and blow them out of proportion in an effort to make everyone from Schwarzenegger-Giuliani-Romney and Brown look better, all at the expense of the Reagan legacy are nothing more then cowardly acts of scoundrels.

The bottom line is that you are to much of a child to just leave it alone. It seems that your feelings got hurt and you got a little embarrassed, so you have gone all petulant now.

BS. Brown is a liberal Republican and Coakley is a liberal Democrat.

Until later.

So far on this thread I have been called a liar, a whiner, a liberal, and a troll. What passes for intelligent discussion these days on FR.

Amen! Preach on, brother! I don't believe FR is being policed as well as it used to be. Before long, our discussions will be as coarse as those on Youtube.

...Craig Shirley's book Rendezvous with Destiny....

Craig Shirley was one of the leaders of the Young Americans for Freedom in Southern California. In 1976 and 1977, I knew him when he worked at YAF headquarters, a small office on Wilshire Blvd. a couple miles west of downtown LA. We used those facilities to print copies of The Cold Warrior, a newsletter put out by the University of Southern California chapter of YAF.

Before a week ago Thursday, I didn't even know you existed. After the last week I'm convinced, you're no conservative, just a lost soul wandering through life. You topped off your week of mindless rants with this ridiculous statement that shows you don't know what conservatism is about or what FRee Republic stands for.

Compare and contrast Scott Brown's website with Martha Coakley's. In terms of content and design, Brown has the better site, by far.

...but in 1968 Reagan and his advisers seem to have been blindsided by the pro-abort movement.

It seems RR, as many of us, didn't recognize the malignancy of the left, like those of us who supported equal opportunity never imagining it would metamorphose into affirmative action.
