He is Arizona’s most popular politician and arguably America’s toughest sheriff, but today Joe Arpaio faces his biggest challenge: a grand jury investigation that could cost him his office.
“It is not right for law enforcement to abuse its authority in this way,” said Paul Charlton, a former US Attorney now representing one of Arpaio’s legal targets. “If you find yourself living in a place where law enforcement investigates its enemies and accuses judges who rule against them of crimes, you are either living in a third world county or Maricopa country.”
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is America’s fourth largest sheriff’s department. For 18 years is has been run by Joe Arpaio, a flamboyant former Las Vegas cop and DEA agent who turned a local law enforcement agency into a national headline machine.
Arpaio forced inmates to wear pink underwear, claiming the color ‘calmed’ them. He created the nation’s first female chain gang. He reduced inmate meals from three to two a day, claiming to serve the cheapest prisoner meal in the U.S. at just 15 cents each.

That was a flippant remarks he made to a stupid “reporter”. He did it to help prevent theft of prison underwear. It worked. No one wants to steal pink underwear.
I scanned this article rather quickly. I didn’t see that the author, William LaJ, didn’t let the readers know that he used to cover Joe while working for Channel 3 Phoenix, before he left for FOX.
Don’t know if that impacted the article or not.
DOJ has been documented participating in illegal activities regarding their investigation of the Sheriff.
When the inmates run the asylum, the crimestoppers will be prosecuted. Sheriff Joe, we support you!

I see a tough on crime guy that also likes to abuse the power of his office to go after his political enemies for his own personal gain while running a jail system that is corrupt.

Joe is a hard hitting crime fighter. Andrew Thomas is right beside him agreeing with all, and instigating many of the probes into corruption by this crowd of America’s enemies. The bad guys should be afraid.

If there is any abuse it came from Napolitano, Goddard, and all of the left wing supporters of Nuevo California. Joe needs to get in his tank and drive down the street some more.
We don’t care how long you have been here...it is this kind of liberal pablum that prevents us from enforcing the laws that are on the books and would keep us safe. I live here in Joe’s county and want him to be governor. He is the hero that every county and state needs.
Principles are never checked at the door no matter who sits in the office.
