Yeah, the _resident just announced that we’re going to send Haiti more than 100 million dollars for relief. He’s awful free with money we just don’t have anymore.

This is tragic. But how is the Dominican Republic doing?
They share the island with Haiti. They must have been affected.

I wonder how much aid will be given by charities associated with the “religion of peace”? I seem to recall that during the tsunami that hit south east Asia it was the US, European nations and Christian charities that provided he bulk of the aid to many of the devastated Muslim areas.

So, fellow FReepers ... how long do you think it will take before the liberal MSM start comparing Haiti to Katrina & how long it took for the Bush administration to respond
to Katrina? No matter that the Katrina death toll was negligible and the Haitian death toll will easily be in the tens of thousands ... the Bush administration will be vilified. Zero will be portrayed as decisive and pro-active ... it will start tomorrow in my estimation.

I've said the same in other threads, though it pains me to see these poor people go through this disaster, it frosts my nads that all we have heard over the past few months is how Capitalism and America have failed.
But who is it the world looks to when the fit hits the shan? Good Ole Uncle Sam is there with 100's of Millions of dollars in aide and manpower while the rest of the world sends pennies.
Where is Mr Super-Socialist Chavez, of Castro, or the Arab States or Russia or any of the rest of the nattering nabobs?
They all sit on their asses and kibitz or send token aide and pat themselves on the back while we Americans do all the heavy lifting.
Day by day hour by hour I am becoming an Isolationist and wish that we as a nation would pull all our troops and State dept people back to the USA and then tell the rest of the world to show us how its done.

The irony here is thay Bush appears with Bubba and the One, both of whom blamed Dubya for Katrina. Unlike Haiti, Louisiana and New Orleans both had a functioning government led by Democratic liberals.
