We were all convinced that Saddam or Uday had pictures of him and some underage Iraqi girl because he had been definitively saying that Iran had WMD and then all of a sudden he started saying, no they don’t, they’re all good people, best people I’ve ever known.

You are right on target. A lot of this went on, and is probably going on right now. When you scratch the skin of an outrageous traitor you find a blackmailed scumbag underneath.
