Disaster Relief: Tuesday's earthquake in Haiti was its worst since 1770, leaving the capital in ruins and a death toll that may top 100,000. But help is on its way, and it's America leading the effort.
Our tiny tragic neighbor was already in bad shape when the 7.0 earthquake struck the capital of Port-au-Prince. It wasn't just any 7.0 quake, as if that were not bad enough, but a shallow one, meaning it shook harder.
Worse still, it hit the most populated area of the country, where 3 million of the country's 9 million citizens live and left thousands dead and many more homeless.
The country's Roman Catholic archbishop perished. The United Nations chief of mission is dead and 150 U.N. personnel are "missing." Embassies are "in the dark," as a State Department official said at a briefing, with many still trying to locate their staffs.
The presidential palace, the buildings of state, the U.N. headquarters and the cathedral lay in rubble. Even the rich areas of the city with decently constructed buildings were devastated. As for the poor, the story is unbearably sad as the injured trapped in hovels cry out for help and bodies are dragged to the streets. There are no ambulances, no telephones, no power and no potable water.
But there is the U.S. and, all partisan politics aside, it's to America's credit that it's once again the last resort of the devastated, and has the biggest, swiftest response under way.

Finally..A liberal use for the military.
I expected the Brazilians, Argentinians, Cubans and Venezuelans to come to the rescue. Who would have thought they would just keep their money and not run and help being that they are so helpful and all?
Let Obama give his Nobel prize money. Frankly.......according to him..........this is the most arrogant, selfish nation in the world. So....let him lead by example. I’m tired of giving...and yes, I feel badly for Haiti but go to Europe for assistance; we’re tapped out thanks to BO.
I will offer prayers.
Nope, you have to remember Clinton’s deployement of peacekeeping troops to Haiti.......IIRC they were probably STILL there...
Gee how much will charities associated with the “religion of peace” contribute?
Like you....I’m tapped out...I have nothing of value that hasn’t been taken or could be useful....I suggest Zer0 print up some of that bale-o-stash cash he been throwin’ around.
No suicide bombers involved, so there.
We must have at least a thousand Fema Trailers sitting around from the New Orleans fiasco. Ship them over there instead of letting them fall apart in some field somewhere.
Those people are Homeless and need some help ,but thank God they arent suffering from the Global warming, freezing temperatures we are here in the States.
Maybe Al Gore could spare a few million from his carefully hoarded global warming bucks. How about Soros skipping sending the check to the DNC this month and sending it to these guys.
YEP, us too....we’re “tapped out.” Too much in taxes here....and don’t want to support tyrannical leaders who steal the money, anyway.
I understand the Venezuelans are offering....
PRAYERS, however, to the poor people of Haiti. May God give them the courage to overthrow their leaders, and gain freedom.
We are tapped out financially here at the repeal household.
All we have left to offer is our prayers.
Haiti will not be saved until Fox News deploys Shep Smith!
After all, without him New Orleans would have been a human cesspool. Oh wait....
Yet America is the most hated one. Go figger’. How about those countries from the ‘religion of peace’...surely Allah wants to help them (sarc/)
Just heard on the news that American Relief planes already on the ground....have arrived.......
“God Bless America”
I’ve got this sense of dread that things in Haiti are about to get a whole lot worse. (don’t worry, we’ll get the blame)
When the aid starts flowing it will represent the greatest influx of wealth most Haitians have ever seen. The lust to control it will be strong.
My thought exactly.
Especially when you see the proximity of Haiti to Cuba, and after all they do have such a GREAT health system according to Michael “Triple F” (”the Fat F*** of Flint”)Moore, they should have been curing people before they got sick.
The phony bastards of the world, masters of hypocrisy, especially the COMMIES, never cease to amaze me...yet so many of the poor ignorant people eat their nonsense up because the media give it their blessing, remember who “canonized” “St. Che”.
....where is Hugo and Fidel on this one????
