US EVANGELICAL preacher Pat Robertson has blamed Haitians directly for the devastating earthquake, saying that the country "swore a pact to the devil'' at its creation. "Something happened a long time ago in Haiti, and people might not want to talk about it,'' Robertson said on his Christian Broadcasting Network show The 700 Club.
The 80-year-old former presidential candidate said Haitians were originally "under the heel of the French".
"You know, Napoleon the third, or whatever.
"And they got together and swore a pact to the devil.
"They said, we will serve you if you will get us free from the French. True story.

Just like Rev. Wright
Can’t be no more idiotic than this: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2427617/posts
well at least he isn’t blaming it on global warming... :/
I knew it! How else could they make those Zombies?
I hate Zombies.
Where does this fool get his history???
You can’t have it both ways. There are prayers for help, then there must be an allowance for satanic action
Sometimes the dementia patients shouldn’t be allowed out to play.....
Huh?
Protestants make up about 16% of the population.
Haitian Voodoo, a New World Afro-diasporic faith unique to the country, is practiced by an undetermined percentage of the population
per Wikipedia,
..especially Illinois Zombies.
While I don’t agree with him, I do admit (and paraphrasing General Sherman):
if I owned Hell and Haiti, I’d live in Hell and rent out Haiti.
The one thing I can say is that Haiti is corrupted to the point of now knowing what a “free market” is.
That makes this disaster all the worse.
And if that’s a “curse” or a ‘pact with the devil’ so be it.
As for Pat Robertson, the last good thing he said was something about “taking out” Chavez.
Robertson is a businessman who put on a preachers guise and has been practicing Christianity in Burger King style.
He’s “having God his way.”
I don’t like that way.
BECOMING??????
Pat Robertson is Catholic. Does he not know the Cathedral was demolished, and the archbishop killed?
BTW, who did Robertson endorse last year?
If any one group had a monopoly on devilry, it would have been the French slave owners. Pat should read the history of France’s slavers and plantation owners.
The Brits were magnanimous compared to them and the Dutch colonialists.
And his pancake recipe sucks!
However, the majority of Haitians have a long history of not placing high value in the will of God and of putting more faith in voodoo. Nations where such practices abound tend to be more impoverished and suffer from unpreparedness for natural disasters much more than those nations whose people place faith in the Creator.
The island of Hispanola, inhabited by essentially the same people, is a laboratory where the results of two different religio-political systems can be observed. One is clearly superior to the other.
Christians should work hard to help alleviate suffering in Haiti. But they should be aware of Haiti's religious history as well. They should pray that the people of Haiti repent from voodoo and turn to the God of the Universe whom they will find not to be controllable through incantations and rituals, but nevertheless is forgiving and loving and kind.
If it’s not a TRUE STORY, why are you stirring up trouble.
“Religions:
Roman Catholic 80%,
Protestant 16%
(Baptist 10%,
Pentecostal 4%,
Adventist 1%,
other 1%),
none 1%,
other 3% - note: roughly half of the population practices voodoo.”

Voodoo isn’t a good thing.
NOW is the time to change it by doing good.
“Pat Robertson is Catholic.” Are you being sarcastic? If so you left off the /s sign.
!!!! In what universe? Robertson is Evangelical. NOT Catholic.
I live near Regent, so I do happen to know what Robertson is.
