Obama: I've Failed To Bring Americans Together... But I'll Try Again This Year
David Gardner 13th January 2010 Barack Obama has confessed that he failed in his bid to bring Americans together in the first year of his presidency. One year after promising a new era of change at his historic White House inauguration, the president acknowledged that an atmosphere of divisiveness has washed away some of his lofty goals. Thats what has been lost this year that whole sense of changing how Washington works, Mr Obama said in an interview with People magazine in the US. He said his second-year agenda will focus on uniting the country around common values.
Not what he'd hoped: Barack Obama speaks to the media about the earthquake in Haiti today, with Vice President Joe Biden behind him [Pic in URL]. The president has admitted in a magazine that he has failed to unite Americans. We all want work that is satisfying, pays the bills and gives children a better future and security, said, adding it doesnt matter whether we are Democrats or Republicans.
The president has faced an increasingly uphill battle pushing through his policies against a backdrop of party political bickering. His pleas for bipartisan support have largely fallen on deaf ears. Republican leaders have rallied against the core items of Mr Obama's agenda, from his economic stimulus plan to fight the recession to overhauling the US health care system. The mood of the country has remained in a sustained slump, too, as double-digit unemployment has followed a campaign built upon hope and change.

"Mr Obama said people have every right to feel deflated, because the economy was far worse than any of us expected. He insisted his government's economic steps in 2009 are paying off and said people should have confidence in the new year."
No amount of beer will EVER fix the devastation you have wrought on MY country.
A pox on you and your house sir....
So he’s turning in his resignation next week for the sake of bipartisanship. That’s great!
Why is Obama taking questions from People magazine and not, for six months and counting, from the press core; or, as Martha Coakley calls them, stalkers?
Thats what has been lost this year that whole sense of changing how Washington works,
And even after all of the Healthcare debate televised live on CTV too!
Now,I’m off to fill in the blank!
You’re bringing us together in ways you never imagined, jerkweed.
So, since he set race relations back by 60 years in his first term,
he’s going to go for another 60?
Or would that be too aggressive of an agenda?
His pleas for bipartisan support have largely fallen on deaf ears.
Funny, I don’t remember any of those, is that where he
was reaching across the isle?
Funny, don’t remember any of that either, maybe it’s where
he was listening to republican input on the health care
bill?
Funny , don’t remember any of that either.
Guess I must have been cleaning the democrat
chicken sh*t out of my ears at the time.
News to the Kenyan. If you’re waiting on me, you’re going to fail again.
I must be those all those “59054087 DUMB people” from 2004./s
Obama is going to balkanize people before he brings them together.
On the other hand he did bring almost 2 million together in DC last year...
He’s bringing America Patriots (real Americans) together under a common cause, more than any other leader has in a long time.
He’s just about united all of America against his administration and policies.
He’s selling himself short. People are coming together to loathe him and what he’s doing to the country in unheralded numbers!
So, are we all having a beer together? on him? What a turd.
LOL!!!!! Business as usual. He's not changing a darn thing and instead of bringing folks together, he's driving them further apart.
Because his pleas for bipartisan support are partisan. He expects the Repubs to just go along with whatever the heck he wants but not necessarily the other way around. That's his idea of bipartisanship.
Thuggery doesn’t play well outside Chicago?!
