Perhaps Pennsylvanians don't like the DemocRATS' nuts.

As the name implies, Carbon Co is in the (largely played-out) anthracite region, not Pittsburgh or Philly. While that area (home of the Molly Maguires) is heavily Democrat, BHO managed to only squeak through, and Kerry didn't.

Speaker mCcALL IS A "moderate" Democrat with an A+ rating from the NRA, but no-doubt he sees the writing on the wall... if not for his seat, for the party in general.

Still, it seems the Dems have the organization in PA. I saw GOTV efforts swarming the state in 2008, but none were GOP that I saw.

Maybe his constituents draw the line at a carbon tax.

McCall is my rep. (I live in Carbon). This guy is literally in the local media every day. Yes it is true that he has a A+ with the NRA and the seniors love him because he gets involved in every little detail of their lives.

But the question remains, how do you go from Speaker of the House to retire at age 50? Carbon County, 90 miles west of NYC and with a total population of 68K, it is hard to imagine anyone from this small semi-rural location in the Pocono mtn/Coal region to do better in state politics than McCall. This person has had no other job other than state represenative. There is no indication from my prespective that his re-election is in danger. I don’t get it. I would have thought he would move up in PA politics not out, or at least keep his seat warm for one of his kids.

Maybe Atty. Gen. Corbett is hot on his trail. He has been doing alot of investigating and indicting lately.

First thought was “which cookie jar did Corbett find his hand in”? Perhaps unfair, but given the nature of PA’s Dems ...

That is of course a logical theory and possibly correct. In the last year I have been to two (2) media events that included the speaker and one (1) the year before. While everyone speaks well OF him, no one actually speaks TO him. I attended a get together where first responders and volunteers involved in the tragic kennel fire last year and no one outside of the media and the local elected officials spoke to him.
