As expected, the slumping economy weighed heavily on voters. David Wilder, 56, of Burke said mounting job losses and, to a lesser degree, the debate over health care pushed him to vote for Hunt.
"It's the economy, it's the stimulus, it's health care, it's the way the system is being run," said Wilder, a physician.

This is purple if not blue district. Ken Cuccinelli won by about 100 votes last time. Ken won the Virginia AG race by more than 15% over his Dem opponent. The race will be close and be determined by turnout. Hunt's opponent, Marsden, is a sitting delegate. He does not live in the district, but he set up a phony residence so he could run.
It remains to be seen if last year's statewide races will have an impact on this contest. I consider Hunt to be the underdog. If he wins, it bodes well for us elsewhere.

425 people voted in my precinct. That’s a bit less than half of the turnout for the November Governor’s race.

Based on preliminary returns, looks like Marsden is in the lead. Hope Hunt gets more votes as more precincts report in.
To: ConjunctionJunction
Steve Hunt with a bit over 47% with 12 of 39 precincts not reported yet.
