As appearance fees go $500 is basically nothing, local celebrities get $500 appearance fees, died in the episode teaser Star Trek extras get $500 appearance fees.

Are you saying all those “4th & 5th guy in the landing party” dudes (the ones in the red shirts) get $500 per appearance?

The original Star Trek series truly IS the gift that keeps on giving, isn’t it?

That $500 is for a 3-day convention with workshops/seminars. It’s a working/planning convention for tea party reps.

I read the article as saying registration for every attendee is $500.

I think you missed something. Sarah will get north of FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS as an appearance fee.

The $500 is what is being charged the participants to ATTEND the convention - not counting transportaion.

From the article:

“The tea party movement was always about the unorganized masses of concerned, passionate Americans uniting together with a common voice to protest the direction of the country. From that passion, others have sought to make money off the tea party movement. Some have done it for good. Many have not. And more and more we are seeing some people rise up to claim the mantle of “leader” of the tea party movement. Many of us who have been around for a while just want to know who the heck these so called leaders are.

The tea party “leaders”, if there are any, are actively at work in their home towns changing things one letter to the editor, one contribution to a candidate, and one protest at a time. They are not on bus tours profiting off the hard work and sometimes the names of others (some also on the bus with no pay) headed to Nashville licking their lips at the $500.00 per person payments coming in to their for profit company.”

This hits the nail on the head. These folks are PROFITEERS, and stand to make hundreds of thousands from attendees. This is NOT in the Tea party spirit.

True TP folks are not in this for the money. Lord knows I’m not.

And btw, anyone who tells you he is the “leader” of the TP movement is a self-aggrandizing LIAR. Individual groups will have leaders - they must to stay cohesive - but their are no leaders on any large scale - despite the Left’s attempts to portray some nefarious character or other as the true leader of the movement.

The $550 plus fee is just to get into the convention. I have a sneaking suspicion that Palin, if she's really going to speak, will get considerably more than that.
