Race & Harry Reid: Why his idiocy gets a pass

In his State of the Union re sponse to President George W. Bush a few years ago, Harry Reid included a heartwarming anecdote about a kid in his old hometown saying he wants to grow up to be like him. Did the 10-year-old realize that he, too, could be charmless and inarticulate and still be an awesomely powerful politician?

For all the furor, Reid's comments about then-candidate Barack Obama being "light-skinned" and not speaking in "a Negro dialect" say less about the Senate majority leader's racial attitudes than his already well-advertised tin -- or is it iron? titanium? some metallic substance yet unknown to man? -- ear. If nuance and verbal intelligence were necessary to success on Capitol Hill, Reid would have quit long ago.

But since when is a history of saying dumb things a defense in a racial controversy? Since when is the truth even a defense?

It was a really rotten thing to say.

What if Harry Reid had said Rudy Giuliani was a “small nosed Italian” who didn’t use “guido dialect” unless he wanted to? Or if Harry Reid said Bill Clinton was a “non-inbred southerner” who didn’t use “hillbilly dialect” unless he wanted to?

The statement pretty much sums up what Reid thinks of black folks, and it is not good. I guess that’s why he has voted for legislation that has decimated black families. The leftist press lets him and other liberals get away with it.

People on the left have been given a pass at least since the Vietnam War and probably going back to the end of WWII.

There is another element here and it has to do with expectations both from the MSM and the Right itself. We on the Right expect more from our leaders. The Left also expect more from our leaders. The left and the MSM have low expectations for themselves.

That is why Harry Reid and Joe Biden can say the things they say without consequences. The same for Candidate Obama referring to 'the other 57 States'.

It is also why Barney Frank can have boyfriends who are pimps and grow POT in his backyard and nobody cares. It is why Anderson Cooper can make jokes about 'tea bagging' on prime time without accountability.

Searching for responsible behavior from a DEMOCRAT or a member of the MSM is like trying to get blood out of an oyster. "AIN"T GONNA HAPPEN"

I really hope that from now on if any non-liberal says something like what Trent Lott did, that he or she doesn’t bend over backwards to apologize to anyone, especially if those people give Harry Reid a pass.

The main idiocy I see is this continued push into PC madness and our destruction because of it. Race?? Black Caucus, NAACP, Eric Holder, CIC and his lovely wife who in addition to MANY other things sat in a black Liberation Theology church for over 20 years with Rev Wright, Henry Gates and on and on. Yeah, speaking of getting a pass & IDIOCY. White people are stupid.

Modern, PC education and popular culture has produced a bunch of self-loathing, guilt-ridden Caucasians in this country.

The sooner American society realizes that PC is dumb and self-defeating, the faster we’ll get back on track toward progress.

Walking on eggshells is no way to live! And neither is going around with a chip on one’s shoulder.

If you are a liberal Dhimmi and vote for every stupid spending bill that comes down the pike, the NAACP will give you a high rating and people like Zer0 will call you “a good man” and “on the right side of history” no matter how many ignorant and bigoted gaffes you make.

It seems like we all need to learn that the left doesn't care what you DO, all they care about is what you ARE, including whether or not you are on board with the collective liberal political agenda.

This is the opposite of what Conservatives, the Founding Fathers, American culture and even Martin Luther King taught which is that everybody is equal, regardless of blood lines, race, creed, etc. and you are judged as an individual by what you DO that matters.

The leftist/liberal approach to government has been the norm throughout time and has been oppressive, corrupt and in need of being replaced by something like America.

American values replaced that kind of govt and the left is trying to bring it back. They are NOT in any way trying to govern this country the way we expect.

This is the lesson we all need to learn: they are NOT trying to improve America. They are trying to replace it with ages old tyranny. They are doing it on purpose, not by mistake.

If we don't realize this now then we are lost. They are smart, well-funded, well-organized and they have control of the federal govt and the White House.

Depressed yet? I am. Still it's time to go to work.

And the truth is...being in a high position causes a lot of people to believe that they are invisible. Harry Reid thinks he is.
