China: Missile Defense System Test Successful

BEIJING) — China announced that its military intercepted a missile in mid-flight Monday in a test of new technology that comes amid heightened tensions over Taiwan and increased willingness by the Asian giant to show off its advanced military capabilities. The official Xinhua News Agency reported late Monday that "ground-based midcourse missile interception technology" was tested within Chinese territory. "We did not receive prior notification of the launch," Maj. Maureen Schumann, a Pentagon spokeswoman, said. "We detected two geographically separated missile launch events with an exo-atmospheric collision also being observed by space-based sensors. We are requesting information from China regarding the purpose for conducting this interception as well as China's intentions and plans to pursue future types of intercepts."

This is ovewhelmingly Russian technology in this case.

In general, they mostly have adapted Russian technology, with quite a bit of French technology and some Israeli technology in a few critical areas.

In China the two parent family is promoted. So is savings. It doesnt have our freedoms naturally, but it is avoiding our insanity and breakdown. Chinese are much more conservative than Americans, yes, than Republicans!

"Conservative" of what? If you are a conservative of family tradition, then yes, one could argue that China conserves family tradition better than America...maybe...assuming you ignore little things like communist revolutions.... But what does it mean to be a "conservative" in America? For most people it means we are "conserving" the principles of the American founding--i.e., LIBERTY. So the fact that you admitted in your first paragraph that China DOESN'T HAVE FREEDOM, no American conservative should be particularly interested in whatever cheap crap they are "conserving". Got it?

I was talking about conservative values like two parent families, work, savings, taking care of your parents, producing rather than consuming (my grandparents values). Yes, we have MTV and an entitlement society as values making believe it's freedom.

Nope, Tianjin is to the south east of Beijing, there are economic zones and high speed railways between the two cities, it’s not convenient for them to deploy missiles there

I had to look that up. There was no such program for initial trainees of my MOS (bravo type) that I knew of, while I was there (long time ago, see tagline). There were religious services for about an hour (if I remember correctly) each Sunday, for those who wanted to attend. Trainees marched each way in formation. There were no passes for the 13 weeks (OSUT), except for the one pass of about a day and a half between phases 1 and 2. I was over 30 then, BTW. ...kinda proud of that.

Those are the remains of two belts of HQ-2 sites (The new “Great wall”) left over from the cold war remain active which now have S-300 missiles.

S-300 missiles — which are useless against incoming ICBMS.

Only the Russians have effective defenses against mass ICBM attacks and have been uprgading those systems since the mid-60s when they went operational. Nixon knew the Anti-ICBM Treaty was a farse when he signed it - good for political points at home and useful to stop real manned space flight endevours using nuclear power.

S300-S400 are the export models (and descended from) another secret not exported system used for defense against mass ICBM attacks.

The S-300 is a series of Russian long range surface-to-air missile systems produced by NPO Almaz, all based on the initial S-300P version. The S-300 system was developed to defend against aircraft and cruise missiles for the Soviet Air Defence Forces. Subsequent variations were developed to intercept ballistic missiles.
