First of all, isn’t it insulting to interview somebody...just because of their skin color.
Second of all, has anybody dared to compile a stat with the winning percentages of coaches by color? I suspect black coaches have a lower winning percentage...purely because teams are pressured into hiring lesser qualified coaches, to satisfy the Rooney rule.
Its almost as if every team now has to go through a pergatory, with a coach they don’t want, before they can hire their no. 1 coach. In Kansas, we witnessed this with the Chiefs, and their stint with Herm Edwards. But, it also happened at a the college level - Kansas State hired a guy named Ron Prince to be their head coach, and kept him a few years, to ‘punch their ticket’. Never heard of him? Go figure.
There is just something immoral about affirmative action that bugs the h@ll out of me.
“just something immoral about affirmative action that bugs the h@ll out of me.”
At work, when I can, I tell ‘em that Affirmative Action is poisoning the future to correct the past.
The Rooney rule doesn’t pressure anybody to hire them, they just have to interview one black candidate. And black coaches, including a guy who got his interview because of the Rooney rule and knocked it out of the park, have won 2 of the last 3 Super Bowls.
