More than half the population believe Britain is deeply divided along religious lines, according to an official survey.
A majority would also strongly oppose the development of a mosque in their neighbourhood, the research into social attitudes found.
Almost half - 45 per cent - say they do not believe that diversity has brought benefits to the country and that religious diversity has had a negative impact.
The government-backed inquiry revealed that only one in four people in Britain feel positively about Islam.

So the question becomes, “What are we (meaning the civilized / non-Islam world) going to do about it?”
Do we go down the path of limiting freedom of religion? Because until you do, Islam will continue to try to infest a country and turn it into an Islamic state.

Several studies I have read (don’t ask for references) have concluded that diversity always results in more stress and less social interaction within a population.

Well only if the newcomers:
1) Don’t share the basic moral and/or religious of the host nation.
2) Those newcomers (who don’t fit in) become a large enough entity (percentage wise) to affect governance of the country. (i.e the rules are changed for them)
3)The newcomers stay isolated in their own group and refuse to interact socially with their hosts.

Islam barely qualifies as a “religion.” It is a radical Arab-supremacist political ideology, complete with its own social and economic law, which attempts to destroy and conquer any other society or culture it touches.
It has a few features that Mohammed dreamed up to make it look like a religion and hence make it both more acceptable and more powerful in the early days back in North Africa, but they are all aimed at reinforcing its political and social control. It is also the only genuine theocracy, since most of the political rulers are also religious figures. In some places, such as Iran with its mullahs, their control is overt; in others, it is more indirect. But because their political law and their religious law are one and the same (sharia), the mullahs, imams and other religious authorities have the last word in all cases. And don’t forget that most members of ruling families in Muslim countries claim to be descended from Mohammed, and hence are defacto religious figures.
Islam should be forbidden in and ejected from all Western countries as the backwards, conquest-oriented, ruthless political ideology that it is.

There’s diversity and there’s diversity. I don’t see what the big deal is, personally; I don’t see why it is considered a value to have a “diverse” population (meaning primarily people of non-Christian or non-Jewish and non-European origin). It can be colorful and entertaining in small doses, but I don’t see how it’s a value.
However, be that as it may, the US has shown that for the most part, small groups of such people can be accomodated and most of them end eventually by adopting our values and our culture. HOWEVER, there’s one group that never does that: that’s right, Muslims. Once they exist in any number large enough to consider themselves a distinct group, they try to take over. And this effect has been enormously enhanced by the huge amounts of money the Arab world has been throwing at this.
Huge mosques are being built all over the place here in the US, including in places that have virtually no Muslims. They are big, fast, go up quickly, and are frequently strategically located in a prominent place (such as the new one, hideously illuminated at night, next to the interstate in Jacksonville, FL). This is foreign money, folks, and the Brits are right to be very nervous about the building of new mosques, because it does indeed represent conquest.

I think it will ultimately take a Constitutional Amendment properly identifying Islam as not a religion, but as a political system with religious elements that is completely at odds with Western concepts of individual freedom and the ideas enshrined in the Constitution and, therefore, not subject to the protections of the First Amendment.

At the very least, boot out those who speak against their adopted countries. Boot out the hate-preaching imams in Britain. Boot out all the Muslims who attend mosques where these hate-filled imams preach. Etc. It's a start.
Under this train of thought, Major Hassan would have been booted out of our country, and barred forever. (Instead of being promoted!)
