THE NDRANGHETA, the Calabrian Mafia, is believed to have played a pivotal role in three days of conflict between local residents and African migrant workers in the small Cababrian town of Rosarno.
Over the weekend, police bused 1,300 Africans, mainly seasonal agricultural workers, out of the town in order to end three days of tension, road blocks and drive-by shootings which were directed at the Africans.
In an interview with daily LAvvenire, senior public prosecutor Alberto Cisterna of the National Anti-Mafia Squad yesterday said: Theres no doubt but that men from the Ndrangheta shot at the immigrants, just to remind everyone that they control the territory.

Good.
Doing the “Politically Incorrect” work that no one else can/won’t do.
Might just save that country.
Recall the opening line of THE GODFATHER.
I did - “For justice...”
It is sad when the mafia has to act. Other members of society should have deported these illegal aliens back to their rat-infested, flea-bitten countries of origin.
There are stories of Muslims being told what would happen to them if they ever tried anything on Sicily. And their children. Their business contacts. People who owed their business contacts.

Reading the whole thing, I see that “For justice ...” was part of it and very apropos, more than I realized when I made the suggestion!
A sad thing to be thinking this way, is it not? Welcome to moral ambiguity, FR!
Or in our case, SCREW THE ILLEGALS who are SCREWING US! If they won’t go home we should drive them back across the southern border at the point of a sharp spear!
” the suspicious type people left.”
And if they were smart, they didn’t go to New Jersey;)
Actually the Mafia sarted out as a rebellion against the wealthy lords who did what they pleased to the serfs.
Sound familiar?
Like Psalm noted, it happens all the time. What I know about the Italian Mafia is that for the most part they “police” themselves and their interests. If you don’t bother them, they don’t bother you.
But when the system is broken, you go to where you can get relief.
Is it sad? Again, when the systems broken, you do what you need to do to survive.
I say no, it’s not sad.
I believe it was over property rights..The polizia would not carry out the laws so they turned to the La Cosa Nostra for protection..
There you go!
