John McCains top campaign strategist said in an interview Sunday that Sarah Palin was dishonest as the GOPs vice-presidential nominee and that her untruths have done long-term damage to her public image.
There were numerous instances that she said things that were that were not accurate that ultimately, the campaign had to deal with, said Steve Schmidt in an interview broadcast on CBSs 60 Minutes. And that opened the door to criticism that she was being untruthful and inaccurate. And I think that is something that continues to this day.
I think they wanted her to be the scapegoat. Don’t think they had a clue about her ability to take a hit and keep going.
Thanks, Amish Dude.
I didn’t want to go off half-cocked without confirmation about Pawlenty.
I agree with you. Schmidt and even Nicole Wallace, would seem radio-active to me too. I wouldn’t want either involved in my campaign were I a pol.
I, unfortunately, made the mistake of having my headphones off at the computer when my wife had it on 60 Minutes after the Packer/Cardinal game ended.
I believe it’s Schmidt that’s lying.
Boy, there's a recommendation. Why wouldn't we hang on every word of someone with that resume?
I know if I ever run for office Steve Schmidt is on the top of my list. </sarcasm> LOL!
To me it sounds like Stevie doesn’t like women who won’t do as he tells them to do? Controlling men act just like he is acting.
CBS, the same network that gives Levi Johnston a forum from which to bash the Palin’s. At the end of the segment, they said they had contacted Palin for comment, and was told that she had covered all this in her book, and no further comment would be made.
{Schmidt is burning too many bridges}
I’m quite sure some RINO would love to have Schmidt on his/her team as a way to show how “moderate” they are.
After all, take a look at our RNC Chair.
Please let me know if you learn that Schmidt gains employment with anyone. I hope his “novel” is a bust.
I just read it on hotair after a search. I don’t know how official it is.
Not even Piper liked him. You know you got trouble if Piper’s talking about you.
Yeah, if I were Palin, I would refuse to comment as well.
Could be. She certainly has exceeded my expectations, and appears to be making the same kind of moves that Reagan made in the ‘60s and ‘70s. I don’t think people want to wait until 2020, to vote for her though, so she has to shortcut the process.
My guess is that she surprised herself, too. The way she handled the debate, and the response she got from the crowds must have given her confidence. She is a real competitor and now that she has had the chance to measure herself against the competition, the success of her book must have put the taste of it in her mouth. But the year is young, and we still don’t know how things will look in November.
No they wouldn't. With a guy like Schmidt, you never know what policy position will cause him to throw you under the bus.
Apparently Schmidt was Rove's demographics guy, but when he got in the big chair, he started to think he was more important than the candidate.
And just about everybody posting at FR knew ahead of time what a totally stupid, dumbass, imbecilic move it was to schedule Sarah's first interviews with Gibson and Couric, and even more stupid to give them long hours of interview time to edited as they say fit. No one has ever taken responsibility for that bit of dumbassery, or even admitted how totally stupid it was.
One of the dumbest moves ever made in a presidential campaign. And all us amateurs called it ahead of time. A logical case could be made that they deliberately sabotaged Sarah., it was such an obvious and stupid mistake.
This Schmidt character is proving to be one of the most spiteful, vengeful, hateful POSs to come around in quite some time. He's a toxic nitwit with many axes to grind, and many backs to stab. Wonder if he ever considers what sort of impression he's creating for potential future employers?
He looks gay.
Pawlenty has picked him up.
For a fact? Wasn't too impressed with Tim anyway. But why would anyone choose this looser?
You may have a point - Schmidt wanted McCain to lose the election. He hated Sarah from day one - she intimidated him and he did what he could to undermine her and in turn undermined the entire campaign.
I have ZERO respect for McCain as he could come out and put an end to all of this garbage.
