Boston Globe Poll Shows Dem Up 15 Points in Mass Senate Race

After yesterday's Public Policy Polling survey finding that the special election to fill Ted Kennedy's Senate seat was a toss-up, a Boston Globe poll released today finds Democrat Martha Coakley beating Republican Scott Brown by a 15-point margin.

Polling a special election is difficult, of course, because it's hard to predict the composition of the electorate. In the PPP survey, 44 percent of those polled were Democrats and 39 percent were independents, while the Globe had Democrats outnumbering independents by a nearly 4-to-1 margin, or 56 percent to 15 percent. But the fact that PPP detected more voter apathy among Democrats accounted for only part of the discrepancy.

If you’re a MA conservative, whatever you do, make sure you vote for Brown.

Let them go on believing that. Dear Dems, don’t bother to get out and vote...we got this one in the bag.

What a bunch of ultra-maroons.

MA conservatives should be calling all their friends, emailing, and going door to door if they can without freezing.

In all likelihood the poll is correct or close to correct. In VA and NJ the ground was laid for a long time as discontent built with the dem candidate. Massachussetts has had no such prep against this dem, and unless I’m wrong even when republicans won 49 states they would lose Mass?

I hope the republican wins.

We’re talking about a state that sent the raping, murdering Ted Kennedy back to the Senate for 40 years.

The Boston Globe poll is most likely closer to reality than the PPP.

Yeah. I believe it. We’re talking the People’s Democratic Republic of Massachusetts here. The folks that elected and re-elected Kennedy, Kerry, Barney Frank, etc.
It will take a miracle for Brown to win.

I will be really surprised if this seat goes Republican. For the most part, the people of MA love their liberalism, and will vote for it every time; even to the detriment of the entire country. Just like all other libs; they care nothing about anything but themselves.

Oh, c'mon. They care about LOTS of things other than themselves.

The problem is that they are just so much more enlightened and sophisticated in their weltanschauung than all us unwashed, there is no way we can rise to their level of understanding. /sarc>

The numbers are based on the ballots sitting in the trunk of an COI (fmrly ACORN) representatives car. They're waiting for the ink to dry...

Be aware too, Ron Paulies are actively trying to undermine Browns chances of winning.

http://www.rightcondition.com/2010/01/voting-for-scott-brown-and-big.html

Nowhere in the commentary for Joe Kennedy is it acknowledged that “Philosophically, Mr. Kennedy said his politics are “98 to 99 percent” aligned with those of U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas.”

I sure hope these polls are wrong. But knowing the voting pattern I wouldn't be surprised if these polls are correct.

Massachusetts is just about the most worthless state when it comes to politics. Remember that they were the only state to go for George McGovern in 1972. This shows just how lunatic the voting population of Massachusetts is. Now it's been a long time since then but in a state that puts Ted Kennedy in office for 6 or 7 times, well you have to think they are beyond redemption politically.

I don't know the history of why Massachusetts is such a political cesspool except to note that there are a lot of colleges and universities there and that's where most of the idiocy is located. Massachusetts would vote for Chavez if it could.

Toss up in Massachusetts

The Massachusetts Senate race is now a toss up.

Buoyed by a huge advantage with independents and relative disinterest from Democratic voters in the state, Republican Scott Brown leads Martha Coakley 48-47.

Trolls on FR are pushing the bogus numbers for the Dem Coakley so the Brown voters won’t bother.

The numbers and support are for Brown period.
