Reid: I'm not going anywhere By: Manu Raju and David Rogers January 10, 2010 04:18 PM EST
Senior advisers for Sen. Harry Reid say he wont resign as majority leader over comments he made about Barack Obama and that Republican attacks on the Reid will give them the opportunity to solidify Democrat support by arguing that he's the victim of a partisan witchhunt.
The more you have in terms of criticism from Republicans, the more likely it is that it is just a political pile-on, a senior Reid adviser told POLITICO Sunday.
The calculus could always change if more revelations emerge or if Democrats begin to call for Reid to step down. But Reids advisers expect neither of those situations to play out, believing that support has been solidified on the left and that they can weather the storm in Washington and will have to turn the focus in his Nevada reelection campaign to jobs and the economy.
Republicans attacked Reid in force Sunday, with RNC Chairman Michael Steele, who is black, National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman John Cornyn (R-Tex.) and Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) all calling on Reid to step down and comparing his remarks to those that led to the downfall of Sen. Trent Lott (R-Miss.) in 2002.
But since Republicans have no power to remove Reid from his position, the majority leader remain in place unless he decides to step down voluntarily or Democratic senators turn against him. Neither seems likely.
He has no intention of stepping down as majority leader, Reid spokesman Jim Manley said. Unlike others who advocate moving our nation backwards, and viewing this moment for political gain, hes working, today, tomorrow and the next day to move our country forward.

We’ll see about that. VOTE HIM OUT IN 2010!!
Good. I want him to stay on as majority leader until he’s booted in November.

Yeah you are. :-)
Hope he doesn’t go anywhere until January, 2011.
Bammy!
How I love ya
How I love ya
My dear old Bammy
Bernie Madoff is looking for a roommate! Obama or Reid would both fit the bill.
Can you believe the set on this guy ?
Going...going...going...GONE, Harry.
Going...going...going...GONE, Harry.
Not by choice anyway.
Good! Time to slow bleed this guy all the way to November.
If the Republicans are smart about this they can show that the Democrats are nothing more than a gang that wears "No Snitchin' " t-shirts. They are all about covering up their racism and blaming the Republicans for theft, graft and corruption while stonewalling investigations into their own well-known theives and tax cheats.
Steele is not strong enough to call to light the double standard, therefore, his voice will not be heard and the republicans will fail one more.
Just one more thing Reid is wrong about.
Democrats begin to attack Reid? I doubt it. Only republicans are spineless, feckless and cowardly enough to launch attacks against each other. It’s all part of being a RINO!
