So many things wrong with this:

Fascism, government-business partnership to force public to pay for something that they don't want.

Profit not safety. Causes an increase in rear end accidents for fascist profit. Delay between red and green lights will drop all accidents to near zero FOR FREE.

Illegals won't be taxed, they don't have real drivers licenses, don't register their vehicles, and don't pay fines. Only honest producers will be harassed and tricked into paying.

Yellow light timing is always manipulated to manufacture criminals and revenue from safe drivers.

One good thing, this exposes the basic moral and ethical corruption of most all California government employees.

I'm going to make a lot of people mad with my comments but here goes:

I don't mind these cameras on red light runners. We have had an epidemic of red light runners where I live and I was nearly killed by one such person. Had I not noticed out of the corner of my eye that this lunatic was ignoring the red light at very high speed and pulled out at a normal speed when my light was green, I wouldn't be writing this today in all likelihood.

Just about every stretch of straight segment of road in the residential area where I live has to have speed bumps because of idiots who drive at high speed in 25mph zones. There are many kids on bikes and small children in this area. These people really burn me up.

Yes I dislike intrusion into our personal freedoms as much as the next guy but something needs to be done about the idiot drivers in my area AND the vast majority of these idiots ARE NOT drunk! They are just aggressive AHoles.

The camera would have prevented nothing in the incident that you describe. The camera would have simply recorded the person running the red light and the person would still have endangered your life. The only difference is that the government would collect a fine unless the red light runner perished in a collision.

Hey California - when you get the ticket in the mail, throw it away! You have not been legally served.

Hi Granny, unfortunately, states differ in legal requirements.

California does not require the same legal service as AZ, but does require photo ID of driver, so there are way for the prepared to beat a CA ticket.

Traffic SCAMeras were banned here in Mississippi in less than a year after they were installed.

Those who are now in office seem hell bent on forcing a revolution. “ if the republic is to be dismembered and the sun of its liberty must go out in endless night, let it set amid the roar of cannon and the din of battle...” Speaker of the House Of Representatives Galusha Grow 1861

It’s only a short term fix. Dallas Tx had the same thing, pretty soon people actually slowed down. This caused revenue to fall. What did Dallas do you ask? Remove the camera’s so people would speed again.

You make the call.

Puh-Leeeze.

Illegals will lead the way of ignoring camera generated tickets.
Then we’ll see some spotty enforcement on us gringos.
Then the word will get out and no one will pay them.

Terminator Fail.

The only difference is that the government would collect a fine unless the red light runner perished in a collision.

However if the government would be willing to NOT receive 400 bucks for rubbing you out, they could dial in a one and a half second delay between the red lite and your green lite.

The infrastructure COST to the government, for this improvement, would be zip, zero, nada, zilch.

I, for one, would be perfectly happy to save your life at that cost.

If you live where a photo ID is required, here’s what to do.
Buy the most powerful electronic camera flash unit you can find, and attach to that unit a device called a “slave”. A slave triggers the flash in your car when it gets a flash from the speed/red light camera, make sure of course that you point the flash back out of the window instead of at you or you’ll be seeing spots for a while. The flare from your onboard flash reflecting off the windshield will wipe out any hope of them getting a usable image of your face.

Spot on. There are real solutions that have little to no cost. However, they do not generate revenue, and that is the real point of all this.
