Liberals love to run down the military. To their way of thinking, military power is a holdover from a more primitive, macho, phallo-centric world. If only they can be in complete control, they'll do away with all that old-fashioned thinking and show the world how it should be done.

What Obammy is going to find out is this: the reason American presidents, Republican and Democrat, like to have a strong military is so they can get a few minutes a day to think about some problem other than foreign conflicts and going down in history as the president who lost Asia, or Europe.
