Call it a hunch, but I expect there will be a big earthquake on the US West Coast in about 2-3 days, possibly a “reflective” earthquake, triggered by this.

Well you were off by a few days, but I say 6.5 is big.

I’ve been following the USGS site for a couple months looking for any type of pattern. (just for curiosity).

I had been expecting a big one this weekend, but on the southern end. My youngest child went to Cali this morning for a skating competition. I told her about my “worries”, she laughed.

I was about 400 miles off. What do I know?

I think there might be something to be learned by studying such reflective quakes. Basically to look through the records, finding a dozen pairs that might fit the profile, then running a line between each pair.

Of course there are a huge number of variables involved, but working in such an enormous scale acts to simplify the equation.
