URGENT -- MAGNITUDE 6.5 QUAKE HITS WEST OF FERNDALE IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA
I also was there. I was at work where I could see both the Bay Bridge and the Cyprus. I could not believe what I was seeing at first. I thought part of the Bay Bridge was down but said, nah couldn't be. Moved away from the BA in 2000 and not paying for earthquake insurance anymore.
Yep. 4.5 aftershock from the same location as the 6.5
Interesting how critters sense these things - however, my guess is that this quake alone wasn’t enough to get the sea lions to leave. Expect more to come.
I missed your post and put that pic up myself - if it wasn’t so dangerous it would be funny.

power outages in N. CA after quake; some damage and injuries reported
if you click the NOW button, it updates and you’ll see the aftershock
Thanks - now I’m freezing to death, have every faucet dripping water tonight so the pipes don’t freeze.
So earthquake or freeze? I will take freeze :)
I can see why there is fear. Especially the older generation who has lived in the area.
Comment in a story.
One man who wouldn’t give his name was on a ladder taking down Christmas lights in Crescent City when the quake hit.
“I was at the top of my ladder, it was slippery already, and suddenly the damn thing started shaking like it needed a drink,” he said. “Luckily it wasn’t enough to knock me off. I wasn’t even bothered till after.”
Sorry Polly, thought I replied to Geron but TY so much for the info. I have 2 sisters Southern Cali, one Northern, nephew ,Oakland. Have only been there right after the big one. Just one trip Northern. Thanks for acclimating me. I don’t know how you do it, I’m not made for shakers. They laugh because my senses got affected with only 3.0. I’d tell them we had a quake & they would laugh. t
Then the news would report it the next day.
Then again, people don’t know how a conservative survived Chgo politics as I did for 55 years :)
@KDRV St. Joseph’s ER/Eureka reports 10-15 patients with mostly head injuries and cuts, expect more
Eureka Scanner: Numerous gas leaks both under street and to homes. Hydrants are out of commission. Numerous Water lines ...
Scanner: At least 1 building reporting partial collapse with 1 foot offset displacement. #HumCoEQ via @CalFireNews
I sure hope the Lost Coast is okay... my favorite place in Eureka. Their website is down probably due to the power outage.
4.5 is our typical non quake and it is their after shock.
Hey coco, please ping me with any important developments?
Yep ice cubes over shakers any day. My hot taps been running for 3 days/nights, cold water just unfroze tonight
Yes thy did..Lot’s of smaller earthquakes in Nor Cal this past week as well..Since this earthquake was in the ocean they might of sensed some kind of vibration....
:o) Yah, same here, but the local media would make a shocking headline/teaser about it. I was in a high-rise hotel in Anaheim during the Northridge quake. The closet doors were mirrored, and were moving. Doors don’t move... or do they? Whaaaa?
Sheesshh! I didn't mean boulder, I meant Brookings! Good grief, got my B's mixed up.
The seals that disappeared, was that along 17 mile drive?
A highrise? YIKES!!
I remember the Northridge mall sandwich.
It was a time many college students came home.
Well. I was wondering - lol I didn’t think the earth moved that far. :) Glad all is well
