Great Quake of 89.
>>
I was walking up Bryant Street with some friends going to Hotel Utah to watch the World Series game. Six people were killed a half a block over from us.

Amazing how the solstice and full moon last month are still having deadly ramifications.
You're kidding, I presume.

I survived Northridge. I was living in Simi Valley across Madera Road from the Reagan Library at the time. Had I not been awake and just finished a 4:30 AM visit to the bathroom, I would have been one of those heart attack casualties you read about.
My apartment complex was on granite, so it wasn't so bad, but just below me the liquifaction zone ran right through the Wood Ranch Golf Course, and the clubhouse was badly damaged.
I did a quick check -- "two, two, two and one" -- I was all right. But I was really shaking as I attempted to find a raido station that wasn't automated and would report on what had happened.

Intense is not the word for the 89 quake. Where I am (a mile from the epicenter) it felt nuclear.

Weve had 4 earthquakes this week in San Jose.I grew up in San Jose, and remember many small quakes. I was gone before the 1989 quake. Good luck to you there!

I’m sure it will be. Grampa Dave is around Napa if I’m not mistaken.
