I survived Northridge. I was living in Simi Valley across Madera Road from the Reagan Library at the time. Had I not been awake and just finished a 4:30 AM visit to the bathroom, I would have been one of those heart attack casualties you read about.

My apartment complex was on granite, so it wasn't so bad, but just below me the liquifaction zone ran right through the Wood Ranch Golf Course, and the clubhouse was badly damaged.

I did a quick check -- "two, two, two and one" -- I was all right. But I was really shaking as I attempted to find a raido station that wasn't automated and would report on what had happened.

I had a cousin sleep through the Northridge ‘quake.

One mile from the epicenter.

In a top bunk.
