Advice on what to do if Harry Reid refuses to seat a senator (MA Senate)
Hillbuzz ^ | 1/9/10 | unk.

Democrats in Massachusetts, with Martha Coakley’s blessing, have announced they will refuse to seat Senator Scott Brown should he win the January 19th special election to fill deceased murderer and womanizer Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat. ”Elections don’t matter in Massachusetts,” is apparently what Coakley herself believes. ”I’ve already won and it doesn’t matter what voters say. Scott Brown won’t be acknowledged as Senator. This is the Kennedy Seat and now it’s mine”.

This brings to mind what Harry Reid did to Senator Roland Burris a year ago, when he refused to seat him in the Senate as well. That time, it was because the current president didn’t get his way and then-Governor Rod Blagojevich replaced Dr. Utopia in the Senate not with Valerie Jarrett, Utopia’s crony, but with longtime public servant Burris. Reid howled, and Senate Democrats swore not to acknowledge Burris and bar him from the Senate.

But delay does the Dems no good. They need the 60th vote. They just can’t keep out the 41st vote. Once the election happens, the appointed Senator is a usurper. Brown should be able to get an injunction to keep him from voting.

It would interesting to find out if after an election, even if the results are not certain, does the appointed guy have the right to continue in office. I don’t know if that has been decided in a federal office before.

Was Coleman able to function as the Senator from Minnesota while the Franken/Coleman voting recount was taking place?

Kirk, the guy appointed to take Kennedy’s seat was put in by a democrat vote to do away with the law that said they couldn’t appoint him. The Democrats were able to put Kirk in and damn if they will take him out!

The HillBoyz, known to Mr. Limbaugh as the ‘HillBuzz Babes,’ write some of the funniest, heart warming, snarky and spot on commentary on the web.

Honest.

And they have some pretty great posters too! Read their archives...their homage to George and Laura Bush (quietely going to Ft. Hood the days after the shooting is brilliant and heartfelt).

Nicely down, Daisy :)

After Brown is seated, with 41 votes, Republicans shutdown senate business.

Are you really forgetting our loyal RINOS that will be all to ready to help out on principal. Hands across the Isle, you know stuff us idiot Palin supporters can never understand.

Hanging on to their Guns and Religion. We have plenty of RINOs that are sympathetic to the Progressive causes. Teddy Roosevelt being one of the founding fathers of the modern Progressive movement.

That may not work as an analogy. Because Franken wasn’t leading the race until the 30984th count. Coleman was the winner on Election night.

I don’t think anyone is suggesting Brown do this if Coakley wins on Election night.

If anything like this looks like it’s going to happen, we’re going to have to take up a collection at Buzzquarters to ship the Hillbuzz gang to the steps of the Capitol.

LOL

Did she really say that? Is there a quote or citation?

I agree with everything they said. I would also add: in addition to Fox, be sure to call in the local news stations in DC. They would die to cover this, they are always trying to get into the big time. In addition, he should do what Burris did and attempt to enter the Senate Chamber, cameras in tow.

I doubt the media would print Coakley’s quote but it is exactly how she and the rest of the Democrats carry on! Uncle Teddy would have wanted it this way. Ironic thing is that Jack Kennedy would have voted for Brown!

These supposed tactics of the Dems in Massachusetts screams, “We’ve lost already,” which, contrary to their wishes, makes it more likely Scott Brown will win, because Coakley is coming across as a L O S E R.

no, that’s their snarky way.

The longer you’re on the site, the easier it is to recognize.

Hillbuzz is an acquired taste, and they have their own way of rolling. They just put up an “Action” post on what to do for Scott Brown in the next 10 days.

You can tell they spent a lot of time in the Democratic machine, by their organization skills. Go take a look.

Awesome photo. But, let's pray Scott wins first . . then we can move to the next step of humiliating Dirty Harry into recognising him, and VP Biden into swearing him in.

Without the 60th Dem vote the GOP would have the ability to shut down the senate if a Republican senator. Whether they have the “onions” to do that remains to be seen.
