Let’s get this story viral!!!

Today, a spokesman for Secretary of the Commonwealth William Galvin, who is overseeing the election but did not respond to a call seeking comment, said certification of the Jan. 19 election by the Governor’s Council would take a while.

“Because it’s a federal election,” spokesman Brian McNiff said. “We’d have to wait 10 days for absentee and military ballots to come in.”

Another source told the Herald that Galvin’s office has said the election won’t be certified until Feb. 20 - well after the president’s address.

Since the U.S. Senate doesn’t meet again in formal session until Jan. 20, Bay State voters will have made their decision before a vote on health-care reform could be held. But Kirk and Galvin’s office said today a victorious Brown would be left in limbo.

In contrast, Rep. Niki Tsongas (D-Lowell) was sworn in at the U.S. House of Representatives on Oct. 18, 2007, just two days after winning a special election to replace Martin Meehan. In that case, Tsongas made it to Capitol Hill in time to override a presidential veto of the expansion of the State Children’s Health Insurance Program.

NOW THE MILITARY MEMBER’S VOTES MATTER IN MA?!?!

Hey. Don’t get worked up over it. We got people on FR who want Coakley to win because the Republican candidate isn’t the second coming of Ronald Reagan.

Go figure. I am sure the dummies will be in this thread soon.

Two points:

1. This could be Boston Herald's way of saying to voters, "If you are voting for Brown because you don't want health care, don't bother."

2. The internal polling on Scott Brown must be terrifying to the Dems.

Repubs in the state capitols and in the House and Senate need to VACATE their offices. Let the country SEE that the Democrats have been establishing one-party rule.

The country has to SEE it to believe it. Press conferences, press releases, etc., will NOT inform the public.

The Repubs will not have the vision or courage to do it, of course. Ten years from now, everybody can look back and say: Why didn’t the Repubs just walk out and create an uproar, when the Democrats could have been stopped.

Sort of like how people talk about the failure of the French to act when Hitler marched into the Rhineland.

When Obama delivers his STFU speech, the Republican side of the chamber should be EMPTY!!!

Ridiculous. Anyone remember NY23?

Washington -- Fresh from his election victory Tuesday, Bill Owens traveled to Washington, D.C., today where he was sworn into office shortly after 1 p.m. and embarked on a busy schedule.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi staged a ceremonial swearing in of Owens at 1:07 p.m. She then hosted a cocktail reception for him. He was accompanied by his wife, Jane, three children and three grandchildren. He was given a standing ovation on the House floor after he recited the oath.

Owens said he will vote for the health care bill likely to come to the House floor tomorrow.

I bet they don’t have all 60 votes assured in time for 0’s speech. That’s why I won’t let this post disuade me from getting out to vote.
