Scott Brown swearing-in would be stalled so health-care reform could pass

It looks like the fix is in on national health-care reform - and it all may unfold on Beacon Hill.

At a business forum in Boston today, interim Sen. Paul Kirk predicted that Congress would pass a health-care reform bill this month.

“We want to get this resolved before President Obama’s State of the Union address in early to mid-February,” Kirk told reporters at a Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce breakfast.

The longtime aide and confidant of the late Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, who was handpicked by Gov. Deval Patrick after a controversial legal change to hold Kennedy’s seat, vowed to vote for the bill even if Republican state Sen. Scott Brown, who opposes the health-care reform legislation, prevails in a Jan. 19 special election.

Repubs in the state capitols and in the House and Senate need to VACATE their offices. Let the country SEE that the Democrats have been establishing one-party rule.

The country has to SEE it to believe it. Press conferences, press releases, etc., will NOT inform the public.

The Repubs will not have the vision or courage to do it, of course. Ten years from now, everybody can look back and say: Why didn’t the Repubs just walk out and create an uproar, when the Democrats could have been stopped.

Sort of like how people talk about the failure of the French to act when Hitler marched into the Rhineland.

When Obama delivers his STFU speech, the Republican side of the chamber should be EMPTY!!!

Didn’t Ben Nelson say the same? How long did he last?

I thought he was supposed to be prolife.

I’m sorry, I don’t care whether he’s dem or rep, you are either prolife or you aren’t. I don’t have much money, I’m going to give to folks who are genuinely prolife.

Yup, Nelson said it...then voted for Obowmacare.

Difference is, this guy from MA is going to vote AGAINST Obowmacare thereby denying Fed dollars for abortion.

Big diff. This guy is worth getting in to vote against the huge socialized takeover of the health system even if he is not as right-leaning as we would like. This "RINO" could SAVE US FROM ONE-SIXTH OF OUR ECONOMY GOING SOCIALIST.

That’s the same kind of thinking that got us President Obama!

Didn’t people learn anything from staying home last election because McCain wasn’t “conservative” enough?

That sure taught those libs a lesson, didn’t it?Now they have the House,Senate,AND whitehouse!

Yeah...we sure showed them!

FReepers: Please take note of GOPsterinMA's post in #2:

Let’s get this story viral!!!

Today, a spokesman for Secretary of the Commonwealth William Galvin, who is overseeing the election but did not respond to a call seeking comment, said certification of the Jan. 19 election by the Governor’s Council would take a while.

“Because it’s a federal election,” spokesman Brian McNiff said. “We’d have to wait 10 days for absentee and military ballots to come in.”

Another source told the Herald that Galvin’s office has said the election won’t be certified until Feb. 20 - well after the president’s address.

Since the U.S. Senate doesn’t meet again in formal session until Jan. 20, Bay State voters will have made their decision before a vote on health-care reform could be held. But Kirk and Galvin’s office said today a victorious Brown would be left in limbo.

In contrast, Rep. Niki Tsongas (D-Lowell) was sworn in at the U.S. House of Representatives on Oct. 18, 2007, just two days after winning a special election to replace Martin Meehan. In that case, Tsongas made it to Capitol Hill in time to override a presidential veto of the expansion of the State Children’s Health Insurance Program.

NOW THE MILITARY MEMBER’S VOTES MATTER IN MA?!?!

Dirty democrat politics, but it might backfire if the military vote gives Scott Brown the win!

I find it sickening to the core. People are not going to stand for this. The government is pushing people to the brink.

Since the GOP leadership have no guts and spine and can’t figure out that we are at war, then it is up to all of us to do their fighting for them. There have to be thousands of retired patriots willing to work on these battles, e.g., retired law enforcement, retired veterans, retired lawyers, retired professionals in every field. If we want to stay free and have a future for our children and grandchildren, we have got to organize now and fight these fascists that want to destroy our country.

Look at the suppression of the military vote over the past 20 years. Even in Florida, a far more friendly military state than MA.
