Did State Department Issue Visa to Pantibomber?
The Politico ^ | January 7, 2010 | Josh Gerstein

Posted on 01/08/2010 12:51:31 PM PST by hockeyfan

/snip/It's just a typo, and in fact, the DNI fixed it on its webpage shortly after sending reporters the statement. But it's an awkward slip-up on the same day the White House admitted that a typo prevented the State Department from realizing it had granted a visa to Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab. (Someone spelled his name wrong during a search.)

That the state dept. issued him a visa has been known for a while. Actually, I think I read that he had a visa that was good until June, 2010.

If the pantibomber had murdered 300, the US State Dept
would have had to put up an idol to him, next to Arafat’s.

Why do they bow to, and help, terrorists against America?

I’ve been thinking “panty bomber” minimizes the issue of an islamic terrorist trying to kill hundreds of people, so now these libtards start calling it “Pantibomber”, I’m even more convinced about that.

How do you spell the name of the guy in Libya? Gaddafi? Qaddaffi? Qhadaffi? etc

I think there are several accepted spellings. Just depends on which one you pick.

Yes, although talk radio hosts (including Mike Savage and Mike Medved) have been using similar taunting names.

I’m sure it is as offensive to call a terrorist a “pantibomber” as it is to put underwear on his head.

But the liberals don’t see it that way.

I've got an idea to help the spelling.

That would be: "FOB" (friend of Brown) for him.

Correct. So when they say that they “searched” for a foreign name but mistyped it, doesn’t matter. We should be able to use the foreign alphabet spelling. What is on his birth certificate? What is on his (non-existent) passport?

Our current state dept is clueless and insane, allowing yemenis here
BUT the pantymuslim was from Nigeria

and actually he got his visa in 08. Why it was for 2 years instead of 2 weeks for the event he attended here is a question that needs to be asked and procedures reviewed and changed

My understanding is that he was issued a visa while a student in London, good for a period of time, and then went off to become a Jihadi.

So it's not necessarily State's fault for issuing him a visa, because he wasn't on a watch list at the time.

After 10 years they don't have software that's able to fuzzy-search Arabic names? Are you freakin' kidding me? Haven't they ever heard of freakin' Soundex for cripes sake??

Good point. Because these names are not necessarily familiar to English speakers, there should be some leeway in the way their names are searched for.

Diversity Visa Lottery 2008 (DV-2008) Results

70 from Yemen that year. The reason for the 2 years is that these Diversity Visas are typically for foreigners who want to work here.

Thanks for that info
Odumbo is a lunatic for letting anyone from a muslim country into the USA.

We should stop anyone from any of those 14 countries from coming here, for now at the very least

Indeed you are right.

The State Dept., probably a bigger collection of nincompoops than those currently occupying the Department of Homeland Security, did give the panty bomber a VISA and by design this little tidbit continually flies under the radar.

Which is why I think Janet Incompetano will keep her job because Hillary should have lost hers long ago.

I’d suggest that Obamer made some kind of deal with the Clintons, which is why he called ole Bill to the WH last week, although this is purely speculation on my part.

Obamer walks a tight line with the Clintons (and I do think ole Bill runs that show...NOT Hillary). He despises them but they know where all the bodies are buried.

Obamer has to appease them in every way and there is no worse Sec of State...ever...than Hillary.
