For underdog Scott Brown, alls Weld that ends Weld Margery Eagan By Margery Eagan Thursday, January 7, 2010 - Updated 22h ago
State Sen. Scott Brown has seen his chance to beat front-runner Martha Coakley. Its moving left.
A poll this week put him ahead of Coakley 65 to 21 among the states largest voting bloc - the unenrolled. Independents elected what few Republicans have won statewide here: Bill Weld, Paul Cellucci, Mitt Romney, before his presidential flip-flops.
Yesterday morning I would have called Scott Brown a social conservative.
By the time he finished an hour with Herald editors yesterday afternoon, he was calling himself a social moderate. Yet he sounded like a social liberal.
Gay marriage, which he once wanted to put up for a referendum? This is settled law in Massachusetts, he said. People have moved on.
Just the other day, in fact, he chatted up two lesbians at Doyles in Jamaica Plain. They were so wowed, they asked for a Brown for Senate sign.
Pro-choice or pro-life? Brown, whos repeatedly pushed for abortion restrictions and has the support of Massachusetts Citizens for Life, said he doesnt like those labels. Pressed, he agreed the choice should be between a woman and her doctor - the very definition of pro-choice.
Yet in 2005 he sponsored a draconian amendment to a bill allowing emergency room personnel to turn away rape victims seeking emergency contraception. Yesterday he did his best to make such a scenario appear less horrifying.
Terrified victim shows up in the ambulance at St. Elizabeths only to be told, Sorry, try Beth Israel, maybe Brigham and Womens. It wouldnt be as callous as that, he insisted.
Scott Brown even said hed have voted for Sonia Sotomayor, the U.S. Supreme Court Justice ridiculed by the right as the ultimate angry, affirmation-action hire with the far-left agenda and the mediocre SATS.
Forget morphing into JFK, as Brown does in his ads. Hes morphing into Weld-lite. Browns not as smart or, as an ex-welfare kid, as patrician. But he comes across as super-nice, super-family guy. He says wonderful things about his wife.
Plus, unlike our previous matinee idol, Mr. Mitt, Browns a regular, lets-have-a-beer kind of guy. None of those Romney the-aliens-have-landed otherworldly expressions. No weird, demonic Mitt chuckles.
No doubt planet-earth Scott Brown will manage to seduce a few of Welds suburban soccer moms. But ultimately, it wont be enough. Not this time. The momsll break for Martha. Local politics - Jan. 7, 2010:
* + Brown vows to work with Dems
What flat-out stuns me is that SO many freepers are so willing to take the word of a Democrat-Media Complex (DMC) stooge over Scott Brown’s own words on his web site.
Dems got their guy in NY23 “against marxcare” then voted for. Why not same thing for pub?
B/S. No state can deny its citizens their fundamental rights to Life and Liberty. And no state can deny its citizens their constitutional rights to be secure in their homes and private affairs and or to deny them their rights to personal property. And no conservative and NO Republican should ever go along with any of this un-American statist clap-trap!!
“..she’s trying to spook conservatives away from Brown.”
BINGO!!!!!
Since all politics are local Brown is doing what he has to do. If he should win we have worse RINO’s in congress than he could be. Take our wins in the blue states where we can. If he should win or even come close it will set off alarms through the halls of congress with democrats wondering what happened?
There are over 4 million adults in MASS. If a full-blown Reaganite 100% pro-lifer had run in a primary against Brown in a primary, such candidate might have received 40,000 votes at most. THAT IS 1%.
WHEN will the voters stand up for Life, Liberty, and Freedom?
The Massachusetts voters are getting the scumbag politicians that they deserve. In this instance, the hope is that they won’t foist Coakley on the rest of the country, to rule us.
If it mandates that a citizen purchases its state approved product or pay a penalty (or face jail time) it does indeed violate that citizen’s constitutional rights.
Scott Brown is not perfect by any means, but I will not sit by and let Martha Coakley become the 60th Dem Senator. If she’s elected, ObamaCare along with its 40% tax on my “Cadillac” health insurance, guaranteed immigration amnesty, along with other countless socialist programs be become reality. If Brown turns into the next McCain/Graham/Snowe/Collins, then in 2012 when that seat is up for its usual election, I will not vote for him.
The tide is turning even here in the People’s Republic of MA, but it will not be done in one fell swoop. It is going to take time. I believe Brown is a step in the right direction. Even if he loses it will be by a narrow margin. To me it shows that people, even here, are starting to realize that the time of “hope and change” is a failed idea and we can get back to sensible, conservative ideals.
(sorry for the semi-opus)
YUP
Whatever it takes to stop this monster.
In Massachusetts, yes. As long as he's a FISCAL conservative...less spending, less taxes, less government...pro-2nd Amendment.
We can't expect Mass to elect a Demint or Palin.
What are you going to get in Mass? Coburn, DeMint or Sessions? Hardly. If it means that getting 41 seats and stopping the enemy then so be it.

Rubio is pro illegals and pro amnesty? I was worried about that. Sucks. I wonder if idiot Crist is against amnesty.
You are never going to get a strict conservative to take a Senate seat in Massachusetts. On the other hand. you can keep the seat out of the hands of the enemy which is as good as you are going to get. I am all for sticking to principles and while Brown might not be the perfect guy he can be the win that denies Obama, Pelosi, Reid and the rest of the left the victory that will screw us all royally.
Come on, wouldn’t the screaming coming from the WH and Capital Hill and MSNBC if Brown won be a nice after Christmas gift?
Stormy seas ahead for believers and conservatives. But, that’s the way it’s always been and always will be. Will pray we’re abiding by God’s will.

Collins and Snowe would be my bets for something like that
There is an indepndent also running named Kennedy (no relation) and he supposedly the real conservative in the race in MA and is on the ballot.
Better a liberal than a leftist. Better a RINO than a liberal. Better a Republican than a RINO. Better a conservative than an Republican. Better a libertarian/conservative than a conservative.
