Palin announced late Thursday that she would attend SRLC, joining Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee as announced speakers. Interestingly, Palin also announced on Thursday that she would not be speaking at CPAC, a gathering of conservatives in Washington in mid February -- a decision, according to those familiar with her thinking, due at least in part to the fact that the John Birch Society is one of the sponsors

the article didnt call him a neocon, it called him a paleoconservative
wWhat I don't understand is how can the situation described in post #37 go unnoticed for over 2 years? There will be no happy ending from all this. Far from it.
I’m thinking Sarah realizes the ideology of more than one group—and their agenda—does not mix with hers
do you have links for that info in #37...?
When someone calls "anti-semetic" then I have to know the context. We often forget that most Jews are a minimum of socialist and maximum, a commie.( Remember the Rosenberg's?) I am as pro Israel as you can get, but if you acknowledge that many are in banking, or in Hollywood, they say that is unfair and anti-semetic. That is just stating the facts, not not anti semetic. To not deny there are Jews in high places is not Jew hating. Back in the McCarthy hearings, many names sounded Jewish and were associated with communism. If a Jew is using his/her power to spread communism, it's not their Jewishness that gets on my wrong side. Just as most blacks are liberal, I get called racist if I don't want to send my money into the ghetto to buy drugs for addicts, no matter what their skin color. I am against any Jew that wants to spread the world socialist agenda, but that doesn't mean I am anti-semetic.
I haven't seen the anti-Catholic statements, but if they are made, that may go back to the Kennedy days when JFK was asked if he would follow the constitution or the pope. I don't care for the Vatican telling us they don't like our wars and interference in our executions. I don't think that makes me anti Catholic, but pro America. Also, I grew up in the Jesuit heyday, when every commie overthrow in South and Central America was supported by Catholic Jesuits. Many of the priests and nun murders back then were from some dictator killing them for gun running or money raising for a coup. Why not just stick to Jesus Christ and leave the politics out of it? Even today, Father Phlager is just such a Catholic. If the Vatican had an airliner crash into it, I wonder if they would be so forgiving, or if they would be demanding Italy defend them.
The truth is there are many Jews in powerful positions that always seem to be liberal and apologizing for America, whether they be in government, Hollywood, or business. Recognizing facts isn't necessarily anti semetic.
As for me, I am an absolutist pro Israel person. Even a Jew would have to admit that the Jews have swung back and forth from liberal to conservative for decades. That is why Netenyahu is in power now. They need him and the weaklings haven't worked. Not liking a weak Jew isn't anti semetic anymore than my hatred for everything Obamic makes me anti American.
I will have to look into JBS's statement to see the context of stuff that may be called anti semetic. I have a feeling they are more pro American than anti Jew. If a Jew acts stupid, I will not make excuses for them just to avoid being called a name. A quick look into Goldman Sachs and their dealings could change Mr. Conspiracy's mind if he knew what they do and where their money goes. I don't think you even have to search to find out what Hollywood does with their money and power.
For me the main problem today is communists, no mater what their religion or skin color. If the JBS sticks to that, I may even consider joining. If they are just the KKK without hoods, then Palin is right. I think her judgement is just being examined. I would hate to have some "handler" somewhere just advising her to dump on the JBS.
CPAC is tip-toing through a minefield as it is. Adding JBS to the mix is like putting on a blindfold.
The problem with the JBS is one of public perception. It’s reputation is such that any affiliation with it by CPAC or the RNC or any individual candidate (announced or potential) opens the door to criticism of the guilt-by-association type. It doesn’t matter if this is fair or not, it is real. And, last time I looked, life was not fair but it was real and the adults deal with it that way.
The Birch Society is not anti-Catholic. It is in fact very Catholic friendly and has always had Catholics (even priests) on its National Council. The JBS is in fact the American counterpart of the Catholic Right in Europe and promotes the same concept of "chr*stendom." It was in part my membership in the Birch Society that enabled me to cast off a lifetime of prejudice and investigate the claims of the Catholic Church. Protestant Birchers also combat anti-Catholicism in their churches because they regard people like Generalissimo Franco as heroes.
Also, the Birch Society's founder, Robert Welch, was baptized a Catholic on his deathbed.
You seem to misunderstand my description of the Birch Society. I said they are the "blue lodge" of the anti-Semitic movement in this country, and this means they cannot themselves officially promote anti-Semitism, though they certainly promote it unofficially.
There are many Jewish members of the Birch Society. However, in my personal opinion they are "window dressing." How they can belong to such an organization is beyond me, but that is their decision.
The fact that Jewish Birchers are pro-Israel does not change the fact that the non-Jewish members are very anti-Israel, and the non-Jewish Birchers run the Society.

R U off your meds again?
No, but I'm no longer a member of the Birch Society.
