Palin Still Outside GOP Establishment, Poll Shows
Posted by Stephanie Condon (AP) Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin remains on the outskirts of the Republican establishment, a new poll of GOP insiders shows though her decisions over where to appear this year suggest she may be interested in changing that.
In spite of the continued interest in Palin's political future, the 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate finished fifth in a National Journal poll that asked 109 party leaders, political professionals and pundits who is most likely to win the 2012 GOP presidential nomination. Palin tied with Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels for fifth place, while former Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney came in first.
Palin has been able to leverage her outsider status to win the loyal support of self-described tea partiers, CBS News' Charles Cooper notes. But at this point, he says, "they need her more than she needs them."
While Palin is attending a tea party convention next year, she is also planning to speak at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans, along with mainstream Republican favorites like Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee.

HORSESHIT. MSM will find out who’s inside and who’s outside come 2012. They better be pissing their panties.
I wonder that, too. Who are these creeps and why does it appear they only back limp-wristed GOPers?
Best place to be for Palin, bet.
The Left hasn’t figured out that “GOP insiders” are blamed for the poor performance of republicans.
Note to CBS! That's a good thing!!!
I’d say outside a rotted building is a good place to be.
The GOP establishment never supported her because they don’t support any of US. I’m glad they don’t support Sarah, Sarah doesn’t need them, never has
Good. Stay there.
I’m old enough to remember in 1978, GOP “insiders” figured John Connally and Gerald Ford were the “most likely” Republican nominees in 1980 against Carter.
In short... this means nothing. As a matter of fact, I bet Sarah is quite happy with it.
The MSM have been busy writing the longest political obituary of all time for the last year and some.
Palin 2012. You Betcha!
First of all, the “insiders” are the ones who gave us Bob Dull and John McNasty.
Secondly, public office may or may not be in Sarah Palin’s future. She may end up being a better asset outside the Party than inside as a candidate.
This is not a bad thing as far as this non-big R Republican is concerned. Personally I hope she stays as far away from the establishment GOP as she can!
i hope all those insiders are in the “tent” when it burns down!
Of course the insiders oppose her. They want to run everything, and she wouldn’t put up with that.
When Sarah became governor of Alaska, she ran against the corrupt Republican b**tards club. A number of them subsequently went to jail, courtesy of the FBI.
She kept on most of the old staffers, but she eventually fired many of those who refused to work for her as the new reform governor, but continually tried to undermine her.
Let’s face it. A lot of the party pros in the Republican party are corrupt, selfish, greedy, and totally uninterested in working for the good of our country. Unlike Bush, who seldom fired anyone no matter how disastrous they were, Sarah would eventually broom them out.
'Nuff said.
The guys that lost the last 2 elections?
So is the constituency.
Time to kick to the establishment.
GOP insiders enabled Obama to become President.
Who needs their help?
