Charlie Cook: Dems Could Lose The House
IBD's Capital Hill ^ | 1/8/2010 | Ed Carson

Posted on 01/08/2010 7:14:23 AM PST by Slyscribe

Veteran political analyst Charlie Cook says retirements are creating a “vicious circle” for Democratic politicians. For the first time, he sees a significant risk that Democrats could lose the House this year if trends continue. (Somebody alert RNC Chairman Michael Steele).

From Cook: How many other wavering House -- or Senate -- Democrats will look at the past five weeks and decide that spending the rest of this year as a lame duck is more attractive than spending a horrific year fundraising, scarfing down fast food, and shaking hands -- all the while facing the very real possibility of losing in the end? When their party starts singing endless choruses of “This is going to be a lousy year,” lawmakers can easily find themselves humming along.

Retirement looks good if you also have a large campaign chest. I believe the rules still allow one to keep them for personal use.

Plus their pensions and other bag of goodies and the ability to still participate in government after life in government.

We need to make them accountable.

I am telling you. Let me be the first...They are scared of facing the Tea Party Protests at every campaign event. Here in Tampa we will confront Kathy Castor everyplace she dares to show her face.

Somebody alert RNC Chairman Michael Steele

With all his cheerleading for the DNC[sic], is Michael Steele really on the person to call for when help is needed for the GOP ?

January 19? That would be on the eve of Obama’s first year in office.

A Brown upset would be a fine “birthday present” for the current regime in Washington. Let’s hope the folks in Massachusetts pitch in for it.

If it is close they will be rushing for the exits. If the GOP takes Kennedy's old seat they will be jumping out the windows.

Wouldn’t it be a beautiful thing to see Queen Nancy relegated to the back bench where her colleagues punish her for her stupid arrogance?

Not to mention if this healthcare passes. The election in Mass will prove nothing, compared to that.

I think the best is yet to come as far as them going down the tubes. And it all begins next week, when they start the healthcare BS again.

What a nightmare this past year has been.

If Scott Brown wins on the 19th I’d bet even money that my House Rep. Delahunt will go down to defeat. It will be interesting to see the voting trends in my district. It could be a positive sign for Delahunt’s opponent.

All Democrats and some (if not many) Republicans should lose. Period. This past year has been illustrative of what is wrong with these arrogant elitists and ineffectual go-along types on both sides of the aisle.

with today’s unemployment numbers, galvanize people to call her office and Raise Hell about Obamacare, which will further crush jobs in the private sector.... no sane small businessperson is going to hire anyone with the horrible new mandates and fines in this bill....

There’s only so many cushy lobbying jobs on K Street. The shrewd Democratic retirees will want to grab them first.

Fundamentally, we need to make it clear to all RATS from coast to coast: Retire, or we will retire you. Choose.

Your district (the MA-10) is the least Democratic in the state in presidential elections, and Delahunt could definitely go down against a strong GOP candidate. Are any state legislators considering a run?

I have noticed in past elections that the media creates a scenio that the Democrat Party is going down in flames of fire. It seems like this the code to galvanize the troops.

Then like magic unions, Acorn, and the Democrat party goes into full throttle, while Republicans rest on their laurels.

It happens every time.

Keep your powder dry, folks. Do not forget that these people in the White House are disciplined left-wing ideologues; they are not as stupid nor short-sighted as your average corrupt Congress-critter. They are after power and mean to have it, from which I would infer there is a plan to deal with the burgeoning discontent in the countryside.

Beware manufactured crises, manipulated events, and news media complicity in whatever transpires. Forewarned is forearmed.

Billy Delahunt has stayed too long, slurping at the Public Trough.

He and his colleagues “would steal a hot stove if they could get their hands on it.”

Learned that one in the Boston State House when I was a mere slip of a lad.

Here’s another one: “Never question where a dollar came from - just be glad it arrived.” That one should be carved over the main entrance to the State House.

Billy was a state rep. when I was a Senate aide.
