Former Bush Counsel Charged In Conn. With Trying To Kill Wife After She Sought Divorce JOHN CHRISTOFFERSEN
January 7, 2010
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) An attorney who worked in both Bush administrations was charged Thursday with trying to kill his wife by beating her with a flashlight and choking her two days after she delivered divorce papers.
John Michael Farren, 57, was arraigned on charges of strangulation and attempted murder and ordered held on $2 million bail.
His wife, Mary Farren, was beaten so severely Wednesday night at their New Canaan home that she was at points knocked unconscious and lost vision, police said. She managed to sound an alarm and flee the house with her two children.
Farren was general counsel at Xerox Corp. in 2007 when he was named deputy White House counsel during George W. Bush's second term. He was previously undersecretary for international trade in the Commerce Department under Bush's father, President George H.W. Bush; deputy manager for the elder Bush's 1992 re-election campaign; and deputy director for his transition team in 1989.
"We are saddened to hear the news," said David Sherzer, spokesman for George W. Bush. "This is a personal matter and we will not be commenting on it."
John Farren's lawyer, Eugene Riccio, called it "a tragic situation" Thursday.

In before it’s Bush’s fault...........
Let me be the first to say it...
Wonder why she wanted a divorce...
IBIBF?
If true, I hope they throw the book at him.
Of course!
MSM TRANSLATION: The wife beating white male chauvinistic Conservative Republicans at it again.
He must be a felon! check
Take away his right to bear arms! check
The article implies that Bush was standing next to him and helping him beat his wife. If the attorney had done something positive there would either be no story at all or just reference to the attorney, none to Bush.
Good grief, this guy needs to go UNDER the jail! It doesn’t matter WHOSE administration he worked for!
he had a temper problem.
sad.
Former White House lawyer charged with attempting to kill wife in New Canaan
I find it interesting that two Connecticut papers I read don’t mention Bush, until the last paragraph. Further, the residence and jail are in New Canaan, the court and hospital are in Norwalk. All of the action took place in those locations, but the dateline on this story is New Haven, not even in the same county.
Much like they used to drag Nixon’s name through the mud, every time they could, I suppose Bush is the new name for the “press”.
