Amid this week's speculation about potential Tea Party leaders comes word that Sarah Palin has agreed to deliver the keynote speech at the movement's first national convention next month.
It will be Palin's first political speech in months, and The Washington Independent's David Weigel thinks it's significant that she chose the Tea Party event after twice passing on chances to address the well-established Conservative Political Action Committee.
The Feb. 6 appearance in Nashville gives Palin the opportunity to "take up the mantle that has been waiting for her as the movement's most visible and popular hero," said The Atlantic's Chris Good.
Among the other conservative luminaries who will speak at the convention is Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., who has been a headliner at other Tea Party events (and won't repeat her line comparing the movement to the doomed "light brigade" this time). But Palin is by far the event's biggest attraction. And she'll take center stage at a time when the Tea Party is showing it can influence election results.
When Jim Greer quit as chairman of the Florida Republican Party this week, it was seen as a Tea Party coup. Greer was an ally of the state's moderate Republican Gov. Charlie Crist, who's struggling in his Senate primary race against Tea Party favorite Marco Rubio.
With Democrat Chris Dodd stepping down, Linda McMahon has the chance to make the jump from running a pro wrestling empire to becoming a Republican senator from Connecticut, Larry Kudlow predicted on National Review Online -- if she "runs a tea-party/free-market/populist/no-bailout/cut-taxes-and-spending/tough-on-terrorism/pro-Gitmo campaign."
The Tea Party is also becoming a factor in the Texas governor's contest. And public opinion polls indicate it's more popular than either the Republican or Democratic parties. But it isn't a formal political party, and some members of the loosely organized confederation of big-government foes are wary of turning it into one.
Dan Riehl is one conservative blogger who's not cheering Palin's decision to address the Tea Party convention. He called it "the beginning of the end" of the grassroots movement and predicted the Tea Party will become like other money-driven partisan groups.
"The tea party movement does not need one 'leader' or figurehead. It strives to avoid being a cult of personality driven by one person's ego or ambition," Pajamas Media's Andrew Ian Dodge said in a post firing back at David Brooks' pointed op-ed in The New York Times about the Tea Party's future. "In fact ... the Tea Party movement has distanced itself from a whole myriad of self-proclaimed 'leaders.'"
While it remains to be seen who, if anyone, will become the face of the Tea Party, it appears the movement has found its theme song. "We the People," a new tune from Ray Stevens (of "Everything Is Beautiful," "The Streak" and "Ahab the Arab" fame) is a hit among tea partiers, CNSNews reported. Sample lyric: "You vote Obamacare, we're going to vote you out of there." Click below to hear the whole song.

All:
The following is an article I received today concerning the success Nevada patriots have had taking over the Republican Party.
Their purpose and method is identical to Primary Challenge and we must begin to take over all political parties.
Please take time to read the entire article and be encouraged that we can, will and must succeed in returning government to the people.

No RINOs in Nevada State GOP
Nevada Precinct Success Launches National Precinct Alliance
By JB Williams Monday, December 7, 2009
Nevada has become the proving ground for the precinct committeemen initiative and
the success in Nevada is very likely to transform the GOP and RNC in the coming
election cycle.
According to conservative grassroots activists behind the Nevada success story,
a small group of about 30 Tea Party activists took matters into their own hands by
way of filling vacant GOP precinct chairs, first at the local level, then the county
and six months later, Tea Party activists seized control of the state GOP precincts,
placing local Tea Party approved people at the head of the Nevada GOP.
Nevada precinct activist Tony Warren describes the timeline of events here at the
new National Precinct Alliance web site.
Nevada just had its elections for GOP Leadership. As a PC, It was my duty
and great pleasure to drive 5 hours from Las Vegas to Hawthorn Nevada,
along with our other delegates, to represent Clark County. Our approved
slate of candidates swept the elections and we now control the entire State.
No RINO was left standing. Every one of them has been moved out of our
way. Every change to the State Party bylaws we didnt approve of was voted
down. It was a complete and total VICTORY for the grassroots conservatives
in Nevada.said Warren
Nevada was the proving ground and now Warren and his leadership council,
Dan (aka ColdWarrior) and Philip Glass, have taken the Nevada strategy and
formed a nationwide networking organization aimed at recreating the precinct
level success in precinct after precinct, state after state across the nation.
There is no doubt that the long term solution for a runaway government is the
patriots control of a primary party, and the direct retaking of the federal steering
wheel. Until recently, too many citizens had forgotten that the government belongs
to them if they will only get off the couch and get engaged in the process.
As I have explained many times, I have a 12 year old and a 10 year old at home.
As great a kids as they are, if I leave them to tend to my house, the cleaning, the
cooking, the shopping, the financial planning, etc., - I will likely return home to
a mess and a half within only a few hours or days.
The people wrongly assumed that they could leave the care of their nation in the
hands of elected officials, as if those elected officials had the same goals, the same
talents and the same agenda. Now they know what happens when they fail to tend
their own house and let the DC children run wild.
Rasmussen reports this morningRunning under the Tea Party brand may be
better in congressional races than being a Republican. Yet another foolish
plug for the 3rd Party concept? Once again, the devil is in the details
That report goes on to stateIn a three-way Generic Ballot test, the latest
Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds Democrats attracting 36%
of the vote. The Tea Party candidate picks up 23%, and Republicans finish
third at 18%. Another 22% are undecided.
And there you have it! Democrats have a solid 36% of the vote. A minority of the
vote, but a winning minority that will win once again if the right remains divided.
The GOP can only win with the combined support of the 18% RNC voters and
the 23% Tea Party voters. The 22% so-called undecideds will likely break
nearly 50/50 at the end of the day.
Only if Tea Party folks unite with RNC folks can they defeat the DNC, better
known today as the Democratic Socialists of America. Scattered over numerous
3rd party efforts, the American Right has NO chance of regaining political power,
much less saving U.S. sovereignty, security or freedom today.
If the right unites, they win in a 5347 take over in the next election cycle.
But if they allow themselves to be divided among 3rd party efforts, they lose
again to a 47% larger leftist minority.
Once you understand the simple math, you must ask what it will take to unite
the pro-American political right with whats left of the old RNC.
The answer is simpleIt will take gaining control of the GOP/RNC and
returning Americas conservative party to its constitutional roots.
To do that, the people can no longer leave the doing to others. They must
directly engage in the process individually and at the local level, the precinct
level. That is the sole focus of National Precinct Alliance.
Others know how to throw a party, march, higher expensive speakers to
come and hawk their latest book. ¬But Warren, Dan and Glass have
shown the way to retake America in Nevada and now they are leading
the charge nationwide.
As easy as 1, 2, 3
Retake the precincts
Retake the Party
Retake the nation
To me, it is no longer a question of, can this work? It is a question
of when the rest of the Patriots in our Country put forth the small
amount of effort required to do the same thing.said Warren
As a result, National Precinct Alliance has been chosen as the single
strategic partner for the Precinct Committeemen project by newly
formed and already affective patriot network Freedom Force US.
Freedom Force US was formed for the sole purpose of bringing patriots
across the country together in a targeted tangible strategy, strategically
partnering with initiative specific organizations capable of mobilizing
millions of citizens in a proven strategy.
Thanks to Freedom Force and strategic partners like
National Precinct Alliance, the people will soon be a few clicks from
real power via their precinct chair.
In case you are tempted to think this is a partisan initiative, think
again. The American right must retake control of their own party,
the GOP. WWII Democrats and Jefferson liberals also angry with
the current Marxist regime in Washington, must begin the process of
retaking the DNC by the same methods. They just have a greater task
ahead of them as the DNC is currently controlled by the
Democratic Socialists of America, while the RNC is floundering about
and ripe for the taking.
For more information on how to reclaim your country at the precinct level,
visit the National Precinct Alliance. State and county precinct coordinators
are being assigned every day and the necessary forms are available on the
web site.
Visit Freedom Force US for more information on the absolute power of
freedom! Pledges of support are being taken through December 15, 2009.
Not a penny has been taken in yet and already, we are making history with
tangible results! Thats as it should be! Its all about the people
Bravo!
I think Sarah is just going there to speak. I don’t think she has any illusions about becoming the movements ‘leader’.
Oops, meant to reply to 1.
We the People are the ‘face’ of the Tea Party IMHO.
it can’t be decapitated and it can’t be stopped. I love it when the established opposition doesn’t know how to effectively respond or fight it.

Hot damn! I like this approach ... a LOT!
Can't be said often enough. If conservatives cannot purify the GOP, they can't go third party and win. The Republican party is a vehicle. It is whatever conservatives want it to be. Democrats have been purging their party for decades. They got the 1960s New Left lunatics they wanted chairing all the important committees. They reformed their party to the point John F. Kennedy could not be nominated for dog catcher. Republicans and conservatives can do the same.
The only way they can respond...mockery and insults...
2010 will be a bloodbath...they can get every illegal/felon vote they can get and it will still be a route...
AMERICA RISING!
they forgot gitarzan

Michele Bachmann will be speaking at the Tea Party also. The two hot chicks tighten the screws on the GOP leadership.
If you don't believe me, re-watch Sarah's acceptance speech on youtube.com. This woman has more charisma than any 10 politicians combined.
The fact that Sarah Palin is not attending CPAC, but attending two major Tea Party events speaks volumes.
Sarah Palin’s people have NOT yet confirmed this appearance.
We shouldn’t overlook Tennessee’s Marsha Blackburn, either...
You are dead right here. NO THIRD PARTY!!!!! We need to take back the Republican party. I hate when they refer to the Tea Party folks as another party. The “Party” part of the name comes from the historical event. We are a movement, not a “party.”
What—Glen Beck isn’t going to speak?
I think of the Tea Parties as a Movement—not a party. I can see it embracing some GOP candidates as Tea Party Republicans and, when the GOP is Left of Center or RINO, embracing Conservative or 3rd Party candidates—Like A Tea Party Libertarian or Tea Party Constitutional Party candidate. New York 23 was the Template. It need not be a traditional party at all. There could even be—dare I say it—Tea Party Democrats! (That’s a long shot) The Tea Parties has no leader—but it has voices. One of the most important is Sarah Palin.
I like that the TPM is not Republican or Democrat or Libertarian, but is composed of Americans who believe in the principles that made this country great.
I like that whatever temporary leaders emerge from time to time, that they are only temporary, that they be given no power, that they act more like trusted servants than political authorities.
I like that people like Palin and Bachman are involved, not as self-serving politicians, but as participants in the TPM.
