Last weekend on Fox News Sunday, anchor-turned-commentator Brit Hume stirred up trouble saying that golfer/adulterer Tiger Woods should convert to Christianity from Buddhism, because Christianity uniquely offers the chance of redemption. Yesterday, in an interview with WTOP radio (h/t Ken Tucker), Hume stuck to his guns.

Freedom of speech, freedom of religion. I guess these will soon be things of the past.

Not in Barack Obama's brand of Christianity.

Liberals continually prove how stupid they are. They like to refer to themselves as "free thinkers" but they're not thinkers of any ilk.

Personally, as a half-Catholic-half-Jewish-pretty-much-totally-secular nonbeliever, I reject Hume's suggestion that Christians are uniquely equipped to overcome their failings and become better people.

Only problem here is that isn't what Hume said. If the author had bothered to read his own article a couple of sentences earlier he'd written...

...Brit Hume stirred up trouble saying that golfer/adulterer Tiger Woods should convert to Christianity from Buddhism, because Christianity uniquely offers the chance of redemption.

Saying that Christianity offers a chance at redemption not found in Buddhism is not the same as saying Christians are uniquely equipped to overcome their failings. That may also be true, but it isn't what Hume said.

What is ridiculous, though, is Hume's implication that he's being picked on solely because he's a Christian.

What is ridiculous is the author's contention the uproar isn't because Hume is a Christian.

One of the reasons that there are no exploding Christians is because Christians, through accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, have a sure mechanism for Salvation. Islam does not. They have no assurance of being worthy of Paradise through acts as they can never be sure they are Muslim enough. The only way they can gain entrance into Paradise is Martyrdom.

In order for Brit to recommend Christianity to Tiger, it must be implied that he does not favor Buddhism. Therefore, by extension, he is now guilty of a hate crime against the religion of Confucious.

At least that will probably be the scenario in a few short years - though there will still be an exemption offered those who condemn Christianity - as it will by then be the religion of hate.

God's Word speaks of the time when man will call the good bad, and the bad good - we've been in that time zone for some time now.

The Left says that FOX news is just an “opinion network” until someone brings up religion and then it becomes a Atheist jihad against someone for stating his opinion.

Likewise persecution. If you wanna be a Christian, Mr. Hume, get used to it.

As for Tiger Woods, screw him. Let Buddah save him.

Preach the Gospel to the whole world. As Paul pointed out many times, that means one takes a lot of hits, because thar world doesn’t want to hear it.

It think the command is “Go into the World and Preach the Gospel”. After that it is between the person and the Holy Spirit. Even less controversial.

True enough, but it's kinda weird to do it unilaterally via a news program. If Hume is seriously concerned about Woods' soul, he should have corresponded privately with him and perhaps put him in touch with someone like Billy Graham.

Also: How is Hume being persecuted? Has he been fired from his job? Lost his home? Spat upon while walking the streets? Disagreement does not equal persecution.
