Graham says he’s ready to make a deal on climate change legislation (wants to be 60th vote)
The Regional Business Journal, Charleston, SC ^ | 2010-01-06 | Mike Fitts

Sen. Lindsey Graham is ready to be the 60th Senate vote to get the climate change and energy bill passed, he told a Midlands audience Tuesday at Harbison State Forest.

“Since they’ve got no Republicans but me, business is open,” Graham said.

Graham has been criticized by his own party for pursuing bipartisan resolutions on such issues as illegal immigration and possible filibusters of judicial nominees. And he believes that the cap-and-trade bills being debated this year are another occasion to do so, he told the audience at a forestry conference hosted by the S.C. Wildlife Federation.

He said he has worked with Democrats, including Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., to craft a bill he can support.

well NO! not buh-bye...he has 5 more years before he is due for re-election....the majority of the good people of SC had their heads up their collective @$$e$ at the polls in '08.

Not exactly. The Democrats crossed over and supported him in the Republican primary. That's also how McCain won.

We keep trying to close the primaries here, but it ain't happened yet.

“Obstruction is not an option, Graham said, because, if a bill is not passed, President Barack Obama can instruct the Environmental Protection Agency to regulate carbon as a pollutant.”

Lindsey, it is YOUR job to make law and not the EPA. And even if the EPA threatens to make a law, they are prohibited by the Constitution. Making law is not the duty of the Executive Branch. Making law is YOUR JOB. But if WE the PEOPLE THINK THAT LAW IS BAD, YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS SUPPORTING BAD LAW.

You PUKE! IF YOU UNDERSTOOD THE CONSTITUTION YOU WOULD KNOW WHO CAN MAKE LAW.

Bipartisanship is capitulation. With the Democrats being unwilling to negotiate and putting their law deals behind closed doors, you are stupid to be capitulating for any reason.

But wait! Didn’t I hear you were getting South Carolina a down home nuclear power plant deal that most other states have been unable to get EPA approval?
Louisiana Purchase. Corn Husker compromise, Carolina Capitulation.

What a POS, traitorous pile of offal...South Carolina, PLEASE come and recall/replace this garbage before he does the country any more harm.

ALl the MORE reason to reiterate:

NO MORE RINOS - NOT NOW, NOT EVER AGAIN.

(Not to start the war up again, mind you [grinning])

Twinkle Toes needs to go. How he got reelected beats the heck out of me. It's hard to believe SC couldn't find a conservative challenger.

Lindsey, like his mentor McQueeg proves that ACU ratings are not the be all and end all. Graham's lifetime rating is an 89.79. (McNuts is also an artificially high 81.43)

Well, whatever, I don’t think the Republican primary voters of SC have a clue. What a travesty that this state has such influence in the nomination procedure.

No state can recall a member of Congress. The time to have acted was in 2008, and SC and LA failed to act when they had the chance.

Those ratings are rigged. The members are notified what technical bills will be scored and what is a “free vote”. Liberals like McPain and Graham know how to vote “right” when it counts on their score. I don’t think they were rigged in the 1960s and 1970s though.

Every day I thank the Lord McCain is not president. On MSNBC the Morning Joe a guy from the Politico said that McCain is just ACTING conservative because of his Republican primary. Imagine all the bills he would have signed by now as president.

So that means in TX we have to support the 7 percent candidate for governor, Mrs. Medina, and refrain from the Perry-Hutchison nonsense. And then a Democrat, Bill White, wins in November.

Oddly, I would imagine that quite a few of the tar-and-feather crowd have in the past voted for Strom’s chosen successor. After all if Strom said to vote for Lindsey . . .

I would imagine Palin is for Senator Murkowski to try to heal wounds of when she unseated her father in the gubernatorial primary. Palin may not even know Murkowski is pro-abortion.

No, Teddy R, that means in Texas, YOU support whomever YOU want to support and think best represents YOUR situation, as is your right.

But when you have a supposed “Republican” openly advocating providing aid and comfort to a corrupted political party who are doing their best to subvert the country from within...And when things go tango uniform because the candidate you voted for continually votes for/with the enemy...I guess that’s STILL better than the Dems winning the election...Hm?

I don’t know a lot about Texas, Medina/Perry/Hutchinson, etc., so I can’t and won’t tell you what to do. I only know who I will and won’t support in the upcoming elections in my own state.

There are issues that are non-negotiable for me:

Gun rights
National Security
Ending Abortion
Re-Americanization of the culure
Reducing Taxes

I realize it’s not possible (yet) to get 100% of these goals, but I will support the candidate that believes them to be worthwhile and works towards them - based on their public voting record.

I would think that Texas has a VERY strong Conservative base that will put a good Conservative in office...

Hope your elections turn out well.

Lindsey: Sir, you seriously need a brain transplant.

I live in N Nevada. We got a foot of snow on the night of Dec 6th. It is still on the ground.

Not only unusual here to get a foot of snow- it is unheard of for it to last over a month.
On night of Dec 6- the overnight temp was -8. Dec 7th was -13. Dec 8th was -19. Frozen pipes all over the valley.

Last night was the first night since Dec 6th that the overnight temp was not below freezing. But a bit of rain fell, and has turned my paths to the horses into skating trails.

I use 100 gallon tanks for waterfor my animals, and up to yesterday- 5 of those 9 tanks were 100 gallon ice cubes, which were frozen to the ground, and I couldn’t tip over. I managed to use a cat’s paw and a 2 # hammer to chip out ice from 2 1/2 of them so I can add HOT water as necessary for the animals. Each tank took over 5 hours to clean out, about an hour at a time.

Neighbor has been here for over 40 years. Says she has never seen anything like this.

For the period between Dec 6th and now, I have burned almost 3 gallons of propane a day——also not usual, at a price of $3.30 a gallon- a 10.36 % rise in cost.

So much for NObama telling all of us on Social Security income that we get our benefits frozen (thru 2011) because there is no rise in cost of living. I have already used up my entire winter’s budget for propane— and it is only the first week of January!!

The impact on the entire world economy with “Global Warming” BS is a subject for someone with more education than I have.
Meanwhile- in a few days, I will be back to carrying 50 gallons of HOT WATER from my bathtub out to the horse water tanks so they can drink each AM, if not multiple times a day.

Oh please Jen. Graham was just reelected by the idiots from South Carolina. One of the top ten conservative states and the voters brought him back handily. He does not go up for reelection again until 2014 and since the voters in South Carolina love him, don’t get your hopes up that he will not win.
