RE: “how many people have a 21,000 dollar plan? My bet is 1%”

****************

Probably a higher percentage than that. My own private individual plan just for myself is over $6,000 per year now and climbing. It’s lousy coverage that I pay for myself and is so expensive due to being highly rated for a few silly meds I take and a history of back pain.

It doesn’t take much to get rated or even rejected now — a neighbor’s daughter gets a cold sore on her lip about once per year and the med she uses is Valtrex or similar. She is 25 years old and was rejected outright by Blue Cross of CA due to the expensive ointment. RIDICULOUS.

First, that’s the floor now. You know how this goes. Cadillac plans are taxed today. Hyundai plans get taxed tomorrow.

Second, it won’t be indexed to inflation, so even if they weren’t being deceitful on purpose, bracket creep would do the job.

some people chose to forego raises in exchange for better health coverage.

These aren’t all rich folks.

It’s not people, it’s families. $8000 for individuals. That is how much your employer pays for your insurance coverage. If you have decent coverage it would easily cost $21,000 per family.
