ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A home invasion suspect is recovering from a gunshot wound to the neck.
Jorge Romero, 44, allegedly broke into a house in the 10,000 block of Mountain Road in NE Albuquerque on Thursday.
Police said he was shot in the neck after exchanging gunfire with the homeowner. He's in satisfactory condition at University of New Mexico Hospital.
The homeowner was not hurt.
Witnesses told officers that Romero's friends took him from the scene and then for some reason dropped him off at a store near the intersection of Lomas and Eubank.
Romero faces several charges once he's released from the hospital.
It's unclear if any charges will be brought against the homeowner.

Thank God the homeowner wasn’t hurt.
I just bought an FN 5.7. I think it’s perfect for home defense.
I seriously doubt the homeowner is going to be charged.
People tend to forget that the police only respond AFTER the crime has been committed.
There will be if that dirtbag hires a lawyer in Mexico. Very obviously, American lawyers are in bed with Mexican lawyers, especially the high paid drug running lawyers.
New Mexico is pretty good about letting us shoot people who break into our homes and threaten our lives. I sat on a jury for one of the exceptions to that rule, and that case stunk so bad they had to prosecute it. ...Anyhow, if they step into my house at night when my wife, kids and old dogs are sleeping, the next thing they will experience is the judgment.
