WASHINGTON The White House is not expected to announce the firing of any officials over intelligence failures for now anyway as President Barack Obama prepares to tell the nation more about a botched terrorist attack over Detroit and what else he will do to beef up security.
Eager to fix a glaring breakdown in intelligence sharing and get the incident behind him, Obama will speak Thursday about a declassified account of the near catastrophe on Christmas Day. The White House also plans to release a copy of the report with some detail stripped away for security reasons.
U.S. officials say a 23-year-old Nigerian man with ties to al-Qaida tried to detonate an explosive device aboard a Northwest Airlines flight from Amsterdam to Detroit. The suspect, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, was indicted Wednesday on charges of attempted murder and other crimes. His father had warned U.S. officials of his extremist ties but that threat was never identified fully by intelligence officials, a breakdown that has drawn intense, candid criticism from the president himself.
It remains unclear whether any top officials from Obama's not-quite-year-old administration will eventually lose their jobs over the debacle. No one lost their job or was censured after the 9/11 attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people nine years ago in New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania.

The biggest problem is ..
Where do you start?
Of course not, it would be an acknowledgment of Obama’s failure..
so, JN was right.
“the system worked”...good enough for we up here who are deciding matters regarding YOUR security......
Did a single person lose their job or even get demoted because of 9/11? (Aside from those that died in the incident.) Nothing’s going to happen because of this.
I thought the principal policy of the Obama administration worked quite well. Hope is one of their hallmarks. For instance, I hope they mis-detonate. I hope they get the flu and can’t get on our planes. Hope seems to have worked really well this time.

That’s why they should be using AMD...
Oh, intel as in intelligence, not Intel.
;)
No Obamabot will lose their job. This is what they WANT! The planeload of passengers saved themselves.
“No Obamabot will lose their job. This is what they WANT! The planeload of passengers saved themselves.”
End of story.
“Of course not, it would be an acknowledgment of Obamas failure”
My bet is promotions all around for a successful attempt at aiding the terrorist’s goals.(which is to strike fear into our hearts and make obamanations policies(IE those of the US) all the more stupid in the eyes of the rest of the world.
>> No immediate firings expected over intel failures
Why should there be, but if only to hold up political scapegoats.
I suspect any failure in security will ultimately be the consequence of inadequate policies driven by Utopian philosophies.
Firings are over-rated. If you fire people every time there's a mistake, you'll breed a culture where nobody will try new things. Plus you get rid of the only people who can warn you when somebody is about to make that same mistake again. "Those who learn from history are doomed to be surrounded by those who weren't there for it." |
270+ could have died and no one to fire?
The failure resides @ 1600 PA Ave
UN freaking believable!
I’m thinkin’ that Zero is wishing that the same internet that he harnessed to get him elected, didn’t work quite so well anymore. ‘Cause it’s that same internet that now exposes all his many shortcomings, including verbatim texts and videos of his latest round of alright-already rehearsals of his best monotone newscasting skills, a talent not especially valuable to the office of the President, and perhaps better left to community organizin’ press releases and lawyerin’ around the bush and such, but a talent he seems bent on perfecting nevertheless.
