CHICAGO (WBBM) -- There's word this morning that President Barack Obama's chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, already is looking at life beyond the White House and that he might be eyeing the 5th floor at Chicago's City Hall.
It was no secret that then-Chicago Congressman Rahm Emanuel was less than thrilled when the newly-elected president asked him to give up his seat in the House to become the White House chief of staff a year ago.
Washington Post columnist Sally Quinn tells Newsradio 780 she's heard from people close to Emanuel that he's told them he's almost ready to leave.
"He's said, 'The job of chief of staff is an 18-month job, it's a burn-out job.' He's made it quite clear that he's not happy and that he's totally stressed all the time and that he's thinking of running for mayor of Chicago," Quinn said.
Quinn doesn't know whether that would be contingent on Mayor Daley retiring or whether Emanuel might challenge him in the 2011 election. In any case, Quinn believes by next fall, Emanuel will either be gone from the White House or at least will have announced that he's leaving.
Course, if Rahm fought in the military of foreign government, that would negate his American citizenship (US citizens forfeit their citizenship when they serve in the military of a foreign government).
Ha Ha ! for Obama's campaign they went with this story;" Profile: Rahm Emanuel, Barack Obama's new enforcer
"Whilst working part-time in a fast-food restaurant, Mr Emanuel badly cut the middle finger of his right hand in a meat-slicing machine. The wound became badly infected and as he lay in hospital with a dangerously high temperature his parents were warned that antibiotics might not be enough to save him from blood poisoning. He survived after the top half of his finger was amputated." ~ http://www.telegraph.co.uk/
Ok, I get your drift. I don’t agree that Onada has been successful in critical areas—defined as where he has spent most of his time. To wit: Tax and Cap. Killed in Copenhagen. Onadacare. I don’t think the votes are there. Demrat pols are running for the hills.
As you put it, the things he’s done, he’s had to do them to stem the tide of defecting support. I would not qualify them as successes since they fly in the face of what he really believes and wants.
IMHO this usurper Onada’s time has come and gone. It only remains to be seen, when the time comes, if he and his bunch of angry commies go quietly.
That aside, it will be interesting to see where Emanual ends up. I’d put odds on one of the TV networks. Remember, that’s where the arrogant ideologue from the Clintoon administration found a home. Greek name beginning with an “S”. Can’t remember it right now.
I think we'll likely see Emmanuel as a lobbyist for some liberal cause. He was previously on the Board of Directors for Fannie Mae. Maybe he'll end up with GE.
I don't think we'll see him as mayor. I think that's just going to be his excuse to leave. Have a feeling he will not run.
Another one bites the dust...
Chicago deserves this little leftist ballerina and vice-versa. Sort of like an enema needs an asshole - a mutual relationship.
In other words, both are full of crap - commies, crooks, and crazies, just like the White House
THe Haganah did NOT blow up the King David Hotel in British Palestine. It was the Irgun and possibly the Stern Gang.
We have a discussion on this very issue at Phyllis Chesler’s site in her recent column on terrorism. See Max Friedman and Momma Mia for their historical comments on this bombing.
PS: THe British got at least one, and possibly three warnings to evacuate the hotel which was a British Command Center and prison.
Nope. The next Daley in that office will be Patrick.
Who to believe? Last I heard he was planning to run for Obambi’s senate seat in Chicago once Burris steps down?
I think that Obambi should “reward” Rahm and appoint him Ambassador to East S###istan
I'm now considering moving to the Lone Star State. : )
Speaking of rats leaving the sinking ship...
Michelle was jealous and wanted him out..
John Mclaughlin (of The Mclaughlin Group) predicted on his TV show that Rahm was slinking off into the sunset ...
Exactly. Being Mayor would be a step down for him.
You have to wonder why the mayoral rumors are surfacing.
Oh heck, probably one of Rahm's hidden agendas---connected to his remaking US foreign policy in his image (/snix).
Just sit back and observe the cockeyed world of Rahm-a-bama.
Come on down! No state income tax is neat.
We would love to have you in my “racist” town of Farmers Branch.
When is the deadline to file? It has passed here in Texas. But we have a March 02 Primary.
