A conservation group's boat had its bow sheared off and was taking on water Wednesday after it was struck by a Japanese whaling ship in the frigid waters of Antarctica, the group said.
The boat's six crew members were safely transferred to another of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society's vessels, the newly commissioned Bob Barker. The boat is named for the American game show host who donated $5 million to buy it.
The clash was the most serious in the past several years, during which the Sea Shepherd has sent vessels into far-southern waters to try to harass the Japanese fleet into ceasing its annual whale hunt.
Clashes using hand-thrown stink bombs, ropes meant to tangle propellers and high-tech sound equipment have been common in recent years, and crashes between ships have sometimes occurred.
The society said its vessel Ady Gil a high-tech speedboat that resembles a stealth bomber was hit by the Japanese ship the Shonan Maru near Commonwealth Bay and had about 10 feet (three meters) of its bow knocked off.

Hopefully the insurance company will rule that the Ady Gil was intentionally put into the situation and not pay, just like my insurance company won't pay if I enter my car in a demolition derby.

How can a speedboat allow itself to be hit by a large fishing boat unless the idiots ran across it’s bow?

Meddling environuts, huh? Well.....I hope you have a Klingon cruiser on hand to fly around the sun and go back in time to find some Humpback whales when the screeching cylinder arrives to destroy the world.

I’ve seen these enviro-nuts on that Whale Wars show. The enviro’s statement that the Japanese HIT their vessel is BS. From what I saw, these nutjobs use their speedboats to try and cut in front of the harpoon ships and throw out cables designed to tangle in the propellers. They probably got too close and that’s why their little ‘stealth boat’ got f’ed up. Southpark did a hilarous parody of these guys a couple weeks ago (ie. “Whale Whores”).

There is a video at the source, the Sea D-Bags rammed right into the whaler, you can tell they were accelerating by their wake.

I want to know who paid for the custom greenie "speedboat." It looks like something that G.I. Joe's enemy Cobra would operate, and it's apparently got all sorts of specialized gear on board (after all, who normally carries a "screw tangling" rig?) I can't imagine it cost less than $1 mil.
I think the proper reaction to these pests is jam, ram and scram. Sounds like the Japanese only got the middle part right.

I hate the slaughter of peanuts. Can’t you just hear their little peanut souls screaming as they are crushed and pulverized, especially after being torn out of their homes and away from their peanut mommies?

Where did these twits get the money for their high-tech knight rider speedboat I wonder? Their little schemes seem more geared towards acquiring fun toys and playing pretend pirate games then about saving Whales.

...yet they fight much harder for their cause than we do for our endangered Constitution, We sink our own ships, mostly. We have a lesson to learn here.

They also toss exploding devices at the Japanese boats. Seen that on the Whale Wars also. I am just surprised the Japanese have not come up with better defenses like super, super pressured gun hoses to blow them out of the water with jet streams that would sink an air craft carrier. Since the Japanese are so good at coming up with gadgets like that.
