“Welfare” is formally termed “Aid to Families with Dependent Children,” because our nation found it more useful to feed and house these children than to let them beg, starve or steal.
You prefer to let them starve rather than to pay to keep them fed or housed. Children whose parents are poor or do not work - for whatever reason - should starve or beg.
Why don’t you think more people agree with your position, if it is in their best interest to do so?
It’s not for the federal government to redistribute wealth. It should be up to local governments and churches, and people who receive should be required to work in some way for it.
