Former KSFO conservative talk radio co-host, provacateur and activist Melanie Morgan resigned from her nationally-syndicated radio show Monday for health reasons.
We connected with Morgan Monday. She says "I'm fine," but wanted to return to the Bay Area from Washington, D.C. to be near family and friends as she continues to explore what she calls her "health challenge."
In a note to listeners Monday, Morgan said, "Yes, it's true. I am leaving the radio. For a while."
"I have resigned from America's Morning News with a tremendous amount of sadness," Morgan writes.
"I have some health issues that I need to attend to and that's the reason why I am leaving Washington, D.C. and returning to California where my family and friends can help me get through this challenging time.
"But I expect to lace up my skates and get goin' again soon!"

I heard her say it on her radio show. Maybe I was hallucinating.

Free Republic loves you Mel and we are praying for you!
I read this on her website yesterday:
Life - Happens
Written by Melanie Morgan Monday, 04 January 2010 12:48 Okay, lots of you are writing to me asking, even demanding to know what in the world is going on because you didn't hear me on the radio this morning.
So, here's the deal.
I have resigned from America's Morning News with a tremendous amount of sadness.
John McCaslin (or John-Juan as I call him) and I had a lot of fun and an amazingly successful ride with over 75 affiliates around the country signing up to hear AMN and three hours of "center right" news delivered with my own special twist (some say twisted) take on the day.
I have some health issues that I need to attend to and that's the reason why I am leaving Washington, D.C. and returning to California where my family and friends can help me get through this challenging time.
But I expect to lace up my skates and get goin' again soon!
I wish all my friends at The Washington Times much luck in 2010 (they are making big changes at the newspaper that you can read about anywhere online) and of course all the fabulous folks at Talk Radio Network who were so kind as to invite me along on this chat-fest.
Big shout-out to John McCaslin who is a terrific guy and very talented, warm-hearted and has helped to make my transition easier, as well as Mark Masters, Phil Boyce and Greg Moceri. I can't forgot the young studs who produce for America's Morning News - Matt Fox and AJ Rice (they are both profane, funny and wicked smart.) Phil Newmark in Oregon, too!
Jennifer Harper at the Washington Times is a sassy lady whom I really admire. Some of the folks who were let go during the downsizing at the Times also invite a nod of recognition - Donald Lambro, Ben Conery and Sonny Bunch and many many more ...A tip of my hat to all former ink-stained wretches who labored at TWT.
So stay clicked to my website and I'll keep you updated.
Oh- don't expect me to marching on Washington demanding socialized medicine anytime soon.
Not. Gonna. Happen.
God Bless,
Melanie Morgan
We can't afford to lose you.
I didn't realize Lambro was one of those let go. Hope he gets hired somewhere else soon.
Is Jennifer Harper taking her place on the radio? She sat in Christmas week on WMAL so maybe she was auditioning.
Could be, I don’t know.
What did you think of her when she sat in?
Melanie is peppier.
Thanks for the ping, Jim.
We miss Melanie on the show. It was an excellent show with her and McCaslin. He hasn’t had anyone since who can keep up with him the way Melanie did.
