I am planning on purchasing a new DVD camcorder to replace my old mini 8 camcorder. Any suggestions on the new technology our there today?

LOL. No...I'm no conssumer products expert!

But do surf the web for news from CES 2010 this week in Las Vegas.

I'm sure all the latest features are being press-released there.

And think about hard-disk cams instead of direct to DVD. You do want to edit out some of the vid, no? Why not download it to your pc, save what you like, crop the "is it recording" blurbs, and burn that to a coherent watchable DVD for the kids/friends.
