A Month in the life of George W. Bush ( News and photos) January 2010

As a new year commences I am sure we all miss the steadying hand of George W Bush who in the wake of terrorism or natural disaster gave us a feeling of calm amid the storm, of someone in control yet a man of compassion. This was shown during late 2004 early 2005 when an earthquake and violent tsunamis struck the nations that surround the Indian Ocean.

I have in fact chosen his radio message from January 2005 as the quote of the month for the first monthly dose of 2010.

A man of conviction and compassion, not all did and do agree with what he did but most will agree what he did he did from the belief that it was the right decision and done for the love of his country and its people and not for personal gain or popularity.

I feel the stark contrast with the current occupant of the White House more so each day when I turn the TV on to see what publicity stunt the current President is involved in. Even his decision to send more troops to Afghanistan he felt necessary to qualify with a promise of reducing numbers within so many months, again reminding us of the difference in character between the current and the previous President.

I hope the following photos from January 2005 give you some happy memories of a time when things however bad seemed more manageable and achievable because the President was in control and defending America and all she stands for instead of apologising.

Happy New Year to all and God Bless America and George W Bush and what he meant to us all during 8 very special years.

Oh, what a wonderful photo! Thanks for posting it.

Laura said that since he's retired "every night is a date night."

I certainly believe that! ;)

(Hope you caught my Anniversary Tribute on November 5th [here on the DOSE] with a whole lotta great "loving couple" photos!)

It's that inner beauty that sets her apart from a lot of other beautiful women. You sure can see why W fell in love with her!

Eric's doing great. Out of the military after 8 years (most of them deployed, actually!), but still considering going back in (I am GLAD he's out with this awful person in the WH who hates our military!)

He's thinking about multiple career options, but isn't sure what direction he's going to go in. Security? FBI? Something like that maybe?

I actually remember when your son was in the military and left the country. Glad to hear he's safely home! Best regards... ♥

I sure did! Didn’t comment because I used to be shy. ;) [This November 5th I’m gonna post a comment sending my favorite couple my best wishes!]
I actually was googling last year for some photos of them, and I saw some Anniversary Tributes from other years, and I ended up joining in October 2009. So, it was your fault that I joined! LOL! [Thank you!]

Laura: “every night is a date night.” I’m glad to hear that. They deserve it. They couldn’t go out while W. was President, so they really deserve to enjoy a lot! They deserve the best!

Well, I'm glad you're not "shy" any more! (Nice to meet you!)

And I'm honored that my labors of love brought you here. :)

Starwise, thanks so much for the ping to that wonderful picture of OUR CIC receiving his award!

He does look wonderful and I’m sure he is so glad to be out of that hothouse and the overwhelming criticism given to him by stupid know nothings.

He’s such a kind and considerate person to be keeping his feelings to himself over what’s happening to our country. I hope that eventually he speaks out!

This place, and people like you, helped keep me going during that first deployment.

The second one is what earned him the Bronze Star. Couldn't be prouder!

Somehow I think they would know I was an impostor! :)

I read that he had some, like the one in the picture, for the White House and some that had his name and Camp David. Very cool. I would LOVE to have one of those!

All of us on this thread miss him everyday as well. Our nation misses him-—even though so many can’t see that they do!

I am sure all the people that take a chance and book him sit on pins and needles wondering if they will be able to sell the tickets. ;)

I looked forward to your return, ohioWfan. I was quite sure you would enjoy the photo that DrDeb showed us! :) I was thrilled to find that huge copy to post. It is a great picture of a great man. Too bad it wasn't a picture of he and Laura.

I love the Sharpie, too, What a fun memento that would be to have!

Not sure if this is appropriate to the thread but adding a little info President GW Bush activities for today, 1-27-10.

Robert Mosbacher former Secretary of Commerce under GHW Bush funeral was today in Houston. In attendance were both Presidents Bush and James Baker among other dignitaries.

Former President George W. Bush greets guest along
with his mother, former first lady Barbara Bush.

Former Presidents George W. Bush and his father, George H.W. Bush,

I certainly did (and DO) enjoy that photo. :)

I would have returned sooner, but after detaching my computer for the new flooring, I was unable to get it working again. (I had to have a special visit from a friend to figure out what was wrong!)

It's nice to be missed. :)

Thanks for the photos and the article, deport!

The elder Bushes look good for old folks. The younger Bush just looks good. :)
