And of course the IRS credo of "guilty until proven innocent" will apply to health insurance "violations" as well.

Sure why not? They are the most powerful, unconstititional entity that exists in government now anyway. Might as well make them the enforcer of this too.

Expected it. After all, the IRS treats all money as its own, leaving it to you to prove otherwise.

Absolutely unconstitutional in the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.

I thought I read that they will be able to do this electronically. So they will just be able to take it out of your checking/savings. (should you have one left!)

IF this were to happen overnight millions of Americans will close their bank accounts and form bartering provisions locally.

This is horrible and should not even get past the SCOTUS.

But we're living in an alternate reality....

That's the dirty little secret about this bill. The fine is considered a tax instead of a penalty. Don't pay and it is a one way trip to club fed. The two sections are

• Section 7203 — misdemeanor willful failure to pay is punishable by a fine of up to $25,000 and/or imprisonment of up to one year.

• Section 7201 — felony willful evasion is punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and/or imprisonment of up to five years.” [page 3]

Already understaffed and overburdened, the IRS will need more agents. The CBO estimates that the extra cost would be $5 to $10 billion over the first 10 years. So far, neither bill in the House or the Senate includes any funding this.

Well of course it isn't funded yet. This is a tax matter. It has nothing to do with health care. Just like the half trillion dollars cut from Medicare by the health care bill will be replaced with another half trillion which doesn't count against the Obamacare budget at all.

The Obamacare bill has enough financial hijinks to make the sternest CPA whimper in pain.

It’s not about health insurance.

It’s about creating a new angle to extort more money from the dwindling producer class to feed into the Obama Hole.
He needs it to finance his wealth redistribution and reparations programs for the moocher class.

“Congress will put the IRS in charge...”

Surely nothing could go wrong here. It wasn’t like IRS employees tried to scam taxpayers out of the the $8,000 home-buyer credit...whoops - I guess it was.

I suspect this to be tied up in court for a while. Hopefully, this court won’t roll over for the New New Deal like the previous one did.

The truly funny part about this is how many Americans, no matter how much wealth they have, are hard pressed to remember to tie their shoes after they put them on in the morning.

Americans who drive without drivers licenses, because they lost them on the same day and figured they were covered. Americans who can’t find their rear end without a road map and a flashlight.

Democrats.

Im not a very religious person, but I’m inclined to say the only thing worse than this is that “mark of the beast” scenario I keep hearing about. If we don’t stand up to this, why would we stand up to the other? Accepting either one results in damnation.

Won’t it be great to deal with the IRS on this?

How about when they start fining people they erroneously charge with not having insurance? That will be real fun to try to get that money back.
