Obama Ends Trip Early to Address Security Concerns
WJLA-TV 7 ^ | Sunday, January 3, 2010

President Obama returns to the White House Sunday night amid new questions about the effectiveness of our fight against terrorism.

The failed terror attempt on a flight to Detroit raised new concerns about the response to the threat. When the President leaves the island paradise of Hawaii, he'll come back to questions about who is to blame for the terrorist near miss on an airliner in Detriot and even more questions about what's being done now to keep the nation safe.

The Christmas Day terror attempt is bringing flashbacks to post 9/11 frustration: warning signs existed, but weren't pieced together.

According to Politico, starting at midnight there will be a new normal for international passengers traveling into the US. All passengers will received tightened random screening and 100 percent of passengers from 14 terrorism-prone countries will be patted down and have their carry-on items searched.

President Obama is cutting his vacation short and will return to Washington Monday, a day earlier than planned. First on his list will be addressing the series of new questions about national security.

Just FYI and no offense meant...you had nothing to worry about the Sikh guy. Sikh’s are not followers of Islam and have faced attacks from Muslims living in their areas of India/Bangladesh etc.

I understand Sikhs are okay and basically on our side. It was just his proximity to the Muslim gal on the plane that bothered me. My initial "read" on him was that he was okay, and by the way, no offense meant to any Sikhs. Sorry if I offended any.

when do his kids need to be back for school? i live in NoVA suburbs of DC and have two kids in private school. one kid’s going back tomorrow and another one going back on Weds. i’d think it prudent that the Obams girls get back, adjust to the jet lag and get ready to go back to school, whether he’s president or not!

“President Obama is cutting his vacation short and will return to Washington Monday, a day earlier than planned.”

What a guy.
Barack “James Earl Carter” Obama must be seeing something bad in the latest polls.

That why I said no offense intended. I fully understand why you were fearful and on guard - we all must be.

I’ve met many people, unlike you, who do believe that Sikh’s are Muslims and are scared to death to be around them.

My college roommate was Hindu and I was warmly embarrassed by her large, extended family, some who were Sikh. They are to this day some of the nicest, hardest working, wonderful people I know. She still lives in the DC area, as does much of her family, and has told me of her Sikh family members being threatened, harassed or flat out called terrorists. Her family is originally from Bangladesh and have seen first hand Muslims attacking non-Muslims even in an overwhelmingly Hindu country.

I think it’s important that we pay attention to the real enemy in our midsts and profile on our own. It is perfectly understandable why you were concerned and a damned good thing you were watching.

If it had not been for passengers, we would be mourning the death of almost 300 people on Christmas Eve. We can not depend on this government to keep us safe - we must remain vigilant. To do this, we need to know who to look for and who should be (outside of something obvious) safe.

Appreciate the feedback. Everyone should know the difference between Sikhs and Muslims. Vigilance is every Patriots News Year's Resolution!

How magnanimous of Zero to give up nothing for the sake of the “security” of our nation.

Frankly, I would rather he stay in Hawaii on the golf course and in the gym. He would do as much good there and probably not near as much damage as he will back in DC.
