Thank you. He was with the 1st Marine Division and mostly talked about the sacrifices that were made by so many young men to preserve freedom and liberty. It's too bad so many people today have forgotten.

Have you read the book "Goodbye Darkness" A Menoir of the Pacific War by William Manchester

The book is probably out of print by now.If a person looked hard enough you could find one used. He fought with the 1st Marine Division at Okinawa and was badly wounded. His detailed story on the battle of Guadalcanal is better than any I have seen anywhere else.
